Just had a look at Melbourne V Dogs. Not the worst game I've seen against good opposition. They (Melbourne) are on the improve and will certainly feel confident given our last outing against them and our poor form at Subi this year. I wouldn't be suprised to see them go in nearly equal with the bookies.
So will we win and more to the point do you want to win? Or would you rather go neck and neck with the Eagles in the race to the bottom(certain to lose away against Brisbane)?

I confess I don't care whether we have pick 1,2 or 3 I just want to stomp their red & blues asses) It will be the first home game I've missed as I'll be at Rottnest watching from the pub.

We need to make sure we win this game and the derby.

I don't want another spoon. Ever.

Please keep Peake in and bring Macmanus back for this game. Please god (Harvey).

What? I haven't been watching a great deal of Melbourne, but you guys don't seem to have been setting the world on fire.

They had a pretty good win against Brisbane while we went down to Essendon.
Also we played them into form last time out plus we don't really have any home ground advantage left at Subi. Everyone can travel these days and take the points here.

I would have us as very slight favourites.

Have you seen just how bad the mob up the road have been, it would take a minor miracle for the Dockers to finish lower then them ... mind you we're still on the same wins at the mo.

...

Before this round, the bookies have been baffling me lately with the Dockers, we've gone in as favourites against a number of teams ... talk about slow learners. Most of our losses have been close, but still. Mind you, I would still say we are favourites at home v Melbourne for the simple reason that Melbourne are one of the few teams that don't have a big advantage in the midfield over the Dockers. Still wouldn't bet on them in any case.

As for wanting to win in relation to the Derby game ... I see it like this, if we win v Mel that would put us one game clear and percentage. That would give the Weagles extra incentive to have a crack at us, as win for them will still keep them below us but saves their precious draft pick position - in other words it will make the Derby a bit more of a game, otherwise everybody's going to be questioning the looser and accusing of tanking etc.

I really have no clue what will happen in this match, Last time we played our midfield really got on top of yours in the second half and i think that is why we won, but our midfield has had some injuries since then with McLean(was our B.O.G last time) and Moloney out for the season.

But i also think we have improved alot since we last played, ecspecially our backline with the rise of Garland and Warnock as KP defenders and now Stefan Martin who was super impressive at FB on the weekend.

I haven't really watched any Freo games exept on the weekend VS Geelong so i can't really say who has been playing better footy, But i hope our game on the weekend is entertaining if nothing else.:thumbsu:

I say maintain your dignity unlike the mob up the road who are an embarrassment. Palmer>Masten should be evidence enough that you don't need to tank, just choose wisely. We got Cyril at pick 12, plenty of diamonds in the draft that are not necessarily in the top 3.

A win would do everyone at the club and the supporters a world of good. So will get our next win this week?
It's gonna come sooner or later. Why not against the Dee's....

Yes, we will win. We need to. I do care, and I hope we never get another wooden spoon. Ever.

So everyone, get your arses down to Subi and cheer like never before. Could be the last time we see a few of our footballers. Does anyone know if Belly is going to do a lap of honour? I realise it's not really something he'd go for, but our club needs something/someone to cheer at the moment. Anything!!!

The AFL should introduce a draft lottery like they have in the NBA...

See I don't understand this at all, tanking is just as prevalent if not more so in the NBA than in the AFL. Teams still tank for the chance to get more balls come the lottery.

Look at what the Spurs did to get Duncan.

I concede your right about that...
Perhaps we could tweek it somewhat to improve it. The AFL should try something to improve the current system.

The AFL is different from the NBA which normally has the best players going in the first 2 spots. Whereas the AFL how many times has the best player gone first? I can only realy think of Murphy and Cooney.

And as it's been said before, 1 or 2 players in a basketball team has much more effect that a couple of players in a footy team.
