Not being a southerner (I live in Wynn Vale) we went to the movies at Marion and after discovered that the Pizza Hut at Marion still does the dine in works menu. I am sure that this would be about the only one left in SA.

I cant believe it has survived, while all the others died about 10 years ago. Hopefully it stays open in its present format.

Hehe yeah I live just down the road from it. My dad used to take me and my brother and sister out for lunch every few weekends when I was younger. Has been around for ages. A mate of mine was actually a manager there until he moved interestate. All you can eat pizza = win.

Marion is like another Country isn't it. It is.

Northern suburbs rule.

The only two I know operating is Hobart and Bendigo, cool that there is one still in Adelaide, I know they bulldozed the Pizza huts that used to be on Main North Road and the also the intersection of South and Port Rds and the one on Anzac Hwy.

We spent alot of time at the Pizza Hut in Whyalla alot of us had our first jobs there:(

When I was a kid I used to go to the Main North Road one heaps back in the early and mid eights back when they use to have the dim lighting and candles on the tables and the red and white checked tableclothes. This was a good ten years or so before they brought in the works menu.

I remember that being open to around 99 or 2000 (was the last time I had the works menu until the other day at Marion) and then closed down and left as a derelict building for about 4 years until the site was redeveloped and turned into Ray's outdoors.

Its definitely going to be something that our family will continue to do as a tradition when we go down to Marion shame there arent any more around.

I prefer to call where I am North East rather than Northern :p

If you say Northern suburbs people think Lizbuff or 'Lowie
hey, leave 'lowie alone!!!

or i'll get my triad mates onto ya!! :)

Not sure if it's still open, but there was one in Rockingham (50km south of Perth) which was still open in 2002. Perth even still has a Sizzler restaurant which remains open (drove past it last week).

They still have sizzler in QLD. I think when the american parent company pulled out some of the franchise owners were financially secure enough to keep their stores open. I know there are no melbourne or adelaide stores left though.

Its a shame that so many fast food franchises have failed in Australia. From Wendys (the American Hamburger restraunt) to Taco Bell, Quiznos etc

Charlies >>>>> Pizza Hut.

IMO, that's what caused the demise of the Pizza Hut restaurants. Charlies (and other buffet places) came in with a bigger variety and killed off Pizza Hut. The buffet though was more of a craze (ala Cafes currently), with many buffets (including several Charlies) reverting back to bistro's. The original Charlies at Paralowie still exists, as does the one at Brighton I believe.

An excellent place which has a Sizzler style set-up (main meal plus massive salad/dessert bars) is the Gawler Arms - your main meal includes their soup/vegetable/salad/dessert bar. Been out there a few times and it's fantastic.

I discovered the Marion Pizza Hut a couple of years ago and still head down there every now and then.

The one on Anzac Highway used to be a drive in burger joint called The Burger King. You drove in and ordered your meal like in a drive in movies and these chicks on roller skates and short skirts would deliver it on a tray that attached to your window just like the movies. Im talking early sixties here.

Went os and not sure what happened to it apart from it's not there now of course.

I understand that the owner who apparently always kept the name registered and that's the reason why the US burger giant had to rebrand their franchises here Hunrgy Jacks. The burgers aren't as good either.

They were the days you young whipper snappers.
