Dom Cassisi looking fierce in intimidating clash jumper

PORT Adelaide captain Dominic Cassisi said his players might have to resort to punishing training sessions this week to fully absorb the magnitude of their 11-point loss to Melbourne on Sunday.

Cassisi, 26, didn't rule out a tough week on the track as the Power picks up the pieces from their eighth loss for the year that came on the back of their impressive triumph over the Brisbane Lions last Saturday.

Talk, talk, ****ing talk! Just shut up until we string a few good performances together.

I guess at least this is coming from Dom. At least he put in an effort.

A Message to Dom

All players are expected to be in Rundle Mall.

All players are to be rounded up and supporters will throw rotten eggs, ripe tomatoes etc hell we could even throw a footy as they would not know what to do with it.

Bring back the stocks I say and let supporters vent their anger.

Whenever I think of punishing sessions, I always think of that Simpsons episode where Lisa and Bart are at Military school. Is this what the Dom is planning??

But these skills are nothing without courage and stamina.
Traditionally, the academy tested these virtues by pitting
you against each other in a two-day battle royale.
[the cadets gasp]
That was prior to 1957, thank you very much state Supreme
Court.

What in the hell is a punishing session going to do? It'll flog the players mentally and physically and ensure an insipid effort on the weekend due to fatigue.

I can see Choco is trying different things to get the players going. They're the pathetic bunch that needs some instrinsic motivation.

I wonder if Blighty still has his teepee and peace pipes - or at least can tell us where he hired them from.

Yeah bit over the hard sessions, skills and strategy sessions may help.

I heard Dom on AA yesterday saying that selection will be interesting, I really hope it's not the standard Stewart and Logan axing

6am beach swim duly reported by the Port website to convince us they're serious.

Players ordered to 6am swim after loss

PORT Adelaide captain Dom Cassisi has described Sunday’s 11-point loss to Melbourne as one of the worst he’s been involved in during his time at the club.

Cassisi (36 disposals, eight tackles and eight clearances) led from the front against the Dees at the MCG, but few of his teammates followed.

The players were ordered to Grange for a 6am beach session on Monday as punishment for the result and Cassisi said the performance was simply not good enough.

etc...

"Cassisi said his side had to put an end to its roller-coaster year starting with a win over West Coast at AAMI Stadium on Sunday."

What...now you start thinking like this........this is the problem.....the team didn't even look at themselves and think that they are gooing through a roller coaster ride.....you can't be serious...

Sometimes its best not to say anything, becasue the more you say, the more truth come out.

There's a group of "older" people that swim off the end of Grange Road almost every morning all year round. Maybe they could show the Port players how to harden up while sharing their apres-swim Stone's Green Ginger Wine.

As others have said, talk is cheap and these so called punishment sessions and lines in the sand have had little if any affect so far this season. What the players need is some serious psychoanalysis and possible a good dose of aversion therapy.

Not trying to be rude but surely the crucial game isn't this week, all year port have tended to win immediately after their embarassing losses, but the week after they seem to go back to their roots

Perhaps we should only smash them on the training track when we win :D

A pre-emptive strike!

Can anyone see a pattern developing here? I used to have a dog who would dig holes whenever I left him home alone. I would always give him a spanking and rub his nose in it, but as sure as the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, he would dig another hole when left alone. He was just a bastard of a dog. I am starting to think the same about our playing group. Nothing will change. Same story, different week.
Does anyone seriously think that suddenly flogging the players is the recipe for success. It smacks of desperation and a playing/ coaching group that has no idea.
Perhaps the answer to these rubbish performances is to cut some dead wood and try to be consistently professional.
Its a bit like the tough stuff they tried early in the season, one week tough with lots of reports, the next as soft as shite with no contested ball. From one extreme to another.
Im actually starting to think that this problem wont be resolved until we get rid of the coach and a core of dud players. By reappointing chocco the club has said to the players that the total shite they serve up is fine, when its fricking not.

How about punishing Williams by sitting him down in front of the Port supporters with gaffa tape on his mouth and letting us tell him what we think of his coaching.

I was a bit pleased with Dom's effort on the news tonight. He actually looked as pissed off as he was talking.

Believe me despite all of this huff and puff
changes for round 16 will be

Out: Stewart
In:Marlon Motlop

With comments from Peter Rhode saying something like:

"We felt that against Melbourne our defensive pressure was good but our forward options were a bit thin. With Marlon despite the fact North had the bye we think replacing a defender with a forward will give us a bit more flexibility up there".

In other words pull a bloke from complete obscurity to fix a problem that really doesn't appear to be there for no real reason while not addressing the core of what's wrong with the team...

If thats the way they roll then the season is over. I wont go to another game this year. They can play with themselves for all I care.
The season is over. We wont make the eight and if we do we will be embarrassed. May as well play the kids now. Nothing to lose.

If chocco had any honour he would wait till the end of the year before he decides if he resigns the contract. If he cant turn it around then he will be the least popular coach in the afl and port's membership will fall to critical levels. I personally know 4-5 supporters who wont sign up next year if he's still there. He could be the death of the club.

He said while he though Melbourne performed admirably on Sunday, he was embarrassed about the lack of intensity his side showed as a whole.

"Without taking anything away from Melbourne, because they played really good footy, we came over here expecting to win and that wasn't the case," he said.

"Our effort was embarrassing.

....

This makes me think that some of the players had already won the game in their minds before the ball was even bounced.. you can just picture them thinking, oh Chads back this should be an easy win etc.. if you look back at the article with David Rodan earlier in the week he said the players should prepare this week against Melbourne thinking they were playing Geelong..

We expected to win, but some of our players weren't prepared to put in the required effort of what is required for a win a game is what Dom should have said.
