Umpiring was a farce, they had 12 more free kicks than we did
Douglas - Im sure the where to now will be brought up again, just not up to it, not sure if he will. I would keep him on the list as a depth player but if he fails to perform when he does have his chances, delist/trade but i doubt anyone would bit.
Symes - Cant kick, he was meant to be dropped a few weeks back, can kick around the backlines pretty well, but his kicking into the 50 is deplorable, cant stand it when he gets the ball.
Just an ugly game of football, it was nice to win, but Hawthorn were terrible, im not taking too much out of this game.
Otten needs a rest, has been a passenger in the last few weeks
Shirley 6 touches, drop him, if we want a tagger use Dogga who can get a few touches/goals, and maybe VB who has a good defensive game.
Sellar - doesn't do enough, not good enough around the ground, not good enough in the ruck. cmon griff perform for centrals. we miss Moran.

Sellar did a fair bit around the ground, his 2nd Q was average but his 1st was quite good and his 2nd half was fine.

• Rowdy. Welcome back son.
• Brad Symes' composure.
• Rory's debut.
• Bernard.
• Stiffy. He mopped up almost everything in the back half.
• Big Ivan's first half.
• Benny Rutten did okay on Franklin. I thought without Bocky we would be in real trouble.
• Mick Doughty kept Rioli down to only a few McAvaney jizz moments.

The bad

• Richie Douglas. Sorry mate, but you're first out when someone comes back from injury.
• Our final quarter - 1.7 against a team that had patently given up isn't good enough if we want to last longer than one week in September.
• Starting both McLeod and Edwards on the bench ... and we cough up five goals.

The ugly

• The umpiring. **** me sideways they were awful. I thought Hawthorn got pillaged but they won the frees 29-17 - probably because the umps refused to accept a Hawthorn player could ever throw it or get caught HTB.
• The Rioli-love in the commentary box. Look fellas, I know Cyril's a talent but don't circle jerk every time he gets the footy. At one stage, Rioli had a shot on goal, missed it, and then Commetti said 'but it was a great kick'. No Dennis. A great kick would have been a goal.

Anyway, based on the second half alone, it was a bloody ugly game and Hawthorn's incompetence let us in. A much needed win and great to see Hentschell back, and Sloane looks like another very promising kid.

Good:

Sloane's debut - thats the type of pressure we like to see. Outstanding attack on the ball. If Walker had that intensity he'd be the superstar we all want!

Trent - Great to see him back. let's hope he can run out the season without any issues. Looking forward to see him and Burton in the forward line again.

Johncock - AA surely!!

Otten - seems to be struggling a bit, but his willingness to put himself on the line when required was brilliant. Love this guy.

Maric's first half was fantastic. Really had a crack.

Sellar is great in 5 minute bursts, after that he seems to run out of puff!

Doughty played well on Rioli after 1/4 time.

Vince, Thompson played well.

McLeod fantastic. Nice to see him turn up this week.

Shirley's courage. That attack on the ball in the last quarter was incredible. To be paid HTB against just shows that the pansies umpiring the game must have grown up playing netball as they clearly don't understand what football is about.

Bad:

Symes disposal. It is BAD. He needs to work on it. He does some great things, but if he doesn't fix it he will be on the outside looking in as the young guys come through.

Douglas. Just don't know what to do with this guy. Doesn't seem to have a position or weapon. Makes poor decisions. Not a fan and would be happy to trade him at season end.

Ugly:
Umpiring...AGAIN. Seriously these guys are a joke. They have zero idea on what holding the ball is. NONE. Apparently if you drop or throw the ball away as tackled thats ok, but if you go in hard to win the ball...oh no we can't have that. Oh and there's the other Rioli rule whereby any time he tackles someone he gets a free and he cannot be given HTB against. WTF is going on in this game.

dougie - tried hard, really wanted to plant a spot in the side but unfortunately I can't see him in the side next week. his defensive pressure was good but his goal kicking was crap and wasted a few oppertunities, like when he ignored Tippett and knights.
