Yep, I was LOL after he had his melt down? Especially after he was acting so cocky about them being so good.

I’m also hoping like hell the SA couple (both are dicks) have an epic fail moment and screw everything up. Both of them are arrogant ****s – dislike her the most but he also loves dick.

Edit

They shouldn't reveal the scores to the teams until they've all had a go. Simple really!

So far no one has delivered a quality main meal. I'm hoping SA can come up with the goods :thumbsu:

Does anyone know what happens after the first elimination? Like what challenges do they move onto next?

After last night's show they said there was a big twist next week, so who knows. No offence but I hope the SA couple stuff up so bad, they are way too cocky and very, very arrogant.

The girls in last night's episode were very good. It will be interesting when they get into the HQ and start cooking off against one and other.

How the hell did the SA couple score 4 for the yabbie ravioli debacle? One single ravioli on the plate, three hours late, and the judges couldn't taste the yabbie.

Having said that, they deserve to be there more than the rabble from Victoria (team 2). The fat guy has the nerve to be critical of other team's dishes after his shameful attempt at cooking. They should have been eliminated.

tragedy that the new perth team will be covered up by an apron for the most part, been some tremendous cleavage shots lately.

(yes uesless without pics, i know i know)

3rd Season of MKR and I think it gets better and better.

Really enjoying the program to date, "yeah".

Ratings would surely indicate a season 4 will be commissioned.

Glad the kiwis (Simon & Meg) failed, massive, huge chip on their shoulders. That Victorian couple (Thomas & Carla).... bloody hell... what were they thinking..."Lavender Cheesecake!" YUk.

Shame David & Scott stuffed their meals up.

Love Steve & Helen, he is just so positive its great.

Leigh & Jennifer....they could be in the movies. The roles I envisage wouldnt require many speaking parts though...

It's good stuff. Can't stand Leigh or Thomas/Carla. The army dudes are good guys, but can't cook. The WA and NSW couples are decent and I'm ambivalent about the Kiwis. The second group starts tonight and it looks like they're full of colourful characters.

Yeah, I was planning on not watching this season but I got sucked in. The only way I can justify watching this though is watching on Foxtel IQ. The ad breaks on this are phenomenally long.

The first stage, the instant restaurant stage, is an excellent formula.

Like last season, once the show turns into Masterchef 2.0 I'll bail out, but I'm enjoying watching so far.

My guess is the new QLD bitchy boys are just playing a character in order to get 15 minutes of fame. They seem to be harsher than someone who is just getting a villain edit.

The new group(2) of people start tonight. From the ad's and previews of them they seem to cook better then the first group and have more personality.

The thing I don't get in this preliminary "Instant Restaurant" bit is why the couples haven't done a dry run and ironed out as many bugs as possible, along with planning some contingencies.

They have everything going for them - they know the ovens, they know the utensils, they know the tableware, they know what they are cooking. For god's sake they get to choose their menu.

Then they come out with things like - "I haven't used this ingredient before", "wasn't sure of the quantities", "wasn't sure if I should season", "wasn't sure how to plate it up".

If I was applying to go on the show and was serious about getting through the first round, then the first thing I would have is my three dishes down pat and would have practised cooking a dozen servings of them in 3 hours at least once.

Yeah, I don't get it either, but we had one team cook steak and not even know at what temperature medium-rare is, so maybe they aren't the brightest bunch or maybe they believe they're such good cooks they don't need to practice.

And it beats me how often teams don't leave enough time for shopping and always end up hurrying back. At least those soldier blokes were up at 6am and had 8 hours shopping, but then the clock said they spent 5 hours of it shopping and were only just back in time.

If I was on the show. I'd be up early to prep the dining room. Have a long list of every item that needs purchasing and from where and when I got back I'd have an itinerary of what needed cooking and in what order. Most of them just seem to wing it.

what are the rules of the show on prepping the restaurant?

i am guessing they all only have 3 hours with which to cook.

Interesting take.

Judging by tonight's promo, where he takes on Manu, I think he could just be an argumentative dick. Or as others might say, a lawyer.

---

First time watching the show properly. Great dinner time fodder.

Lots to like about this show. The characters are all there, Ch7 found good role players to fill out the cast. A lot of know-it-all types which makes it interesting. The editing is sharp, trying to create dynamics and pettiness that probably isn't there.

The over exaggerated close up shots in "dramatic" moments is like watching a bad daytime soap.

Manu is great even though I can't understand 20% of what he says. Both judges are honest and constructive, I like that.

"I love Princess! The florist and her are going to the Final 3" - this is what I say to piss off my sister-in-law. She doesn't understand the mechanics of tv at all.

If I knew I had to wait 5 hours to eat a three course meal, I would probably murder someone and stop by Macca's on the way home at the 3 hour mark.

I don't buy the two childhoods mates (Roco and somebody?), already. They strike me as totally disingenuous, like MKR put two random guys together to fill the "two male best friends" role. I guarantee they will go far.

I think they get 8 hours; 5 for shopping and setting up and 3 for cooking.
I thought it was all day to shop/setup then 3 hrs before guests arrive, you can start in the kitchen.

Regardless, who needs 5+ hours to shop through a list? I know the quantities are a bit insane, but they are essentially going to one Coles store.

I agree with those above, how any team can not be totally prepared is beyond me.

100% agree to both, it makes no sense not to properly prepare and test your meal before your time.

Re the kitchens. MKR does not reveal that 6 out of the 10 couples DO NOT use their own kitchens. Either because they are too small for filming in the kitchen or for filming in the dining area or I gather they are embarassed about their homes. Either way a majority using friends, neighbours or family homes to prepare and serve. (A newspaper article on MKR after the first night problems with Steven & Helen revealed this truth).

They don't even get to chose what dishes they cook - you give them 10 recipes and they get the ones given to them by MKR on the day

Felt for the WA group tonight and so hate Dr Evil and his henchmen....

Dr Evil basically said he thought he didn't believe SA boys confidence and believes they will be quaking in their boots which mum and I couldn't help but laugh....

Ive never met Nick but if anyone thinks Rocco can't cook are in for a rude shock...

I didn't feel any sympathy for the WA team last night.

There's no excuse for using dried fruit in a dessert. Have the clowns who go on these types of shows ever actually watched another cooking show? Every cooking show always hammers fresh is best.

By the way, while we're deconstructing how this show actually works, how does the payment work for the instant restaurant? I ask because the WA team used plenty of expensive ingredients, specifically the truffles, but they baulked at buying the truffle slicer. Who's paying (MKR obviously) and what's the budget?
