Dustin Martin, Richmond’s rookie sensation, has unveiled the league’s most dramatic insignia tattoos.

The talented midfielder who claimed after being selected with the third pick in last year’s national draft that he was “born to play in the AFL” – and has proven just that this season – has paid tribute to his father Shane and their Maori heritage with the insignia “Ngati Maru” emblazoned on one side of his neck.

Geez who would have thought my kiwi-ality would come into play here. I believe that Dusty has the following words on his neck "matai whetu ngati maru" which means that he's a man of the Ngati Maru tribe of the central North Island of NZ.

Love to see Tambos Tat. Their was a pic of him a week or two back being tackled, and the opp player had a fist full of the front of his jumper pulling it forward, and you could see poking out from both sides of his sleeves the ends of his tat. It looked very impressive.

The kid is all about family - he moved out of living with a group of young men to live with the President of the club. I like his attitude, its a refreshing change for a Gen Y.
