And Fremantle has upgraded former Port Adelaide defender Nick Lower.
The 23-year-old played 20 games for Port from 2006-2009 before being delisted. He was recruited by the Dockers with pick 37 in last year's rookie draft and has played in all of Fremantle's pre-season games.

Well done Nick. He was the kind of player I will always have time for. Committed himself the the best of his ability, never shirked a contest or some hard work, always doing the team things.

He is probably not the kind of player I will sit up at night worrying about us losing but he deserves to be on a list somewhere and I am glad to see him making a go of it.

I will never forget the moment we shared during one of the Talking Footy nights at Albetr0n when he was leaning back against the bar nonchalant as f#ck while listening to Barry Curtain dribble more than a labotomised St. Bernard and I looked longingly at him from across the room nervously fingering my cutlery like a coy Japanese schoolgirl who has just mistaken Michael Buble for Josh Duhamel strokes her hungry Tamagotchi while waiting for her XX=SCREAM! chromosome to kick in.

Well done to him. But f*** I'm annoyed.

Ten straight games to finish a year, polling B&F votes in nine of them. No part in the next preseason. Then he's gone, while others get the chance to rack up 50, 60, 70, 73 games of flotsam and jetsam.

Now he's BOG in his first game for a new club, playing in the middle. I would give up my life's savings to watch Lower shirt-front Choco for four days straight.

Look did it really matter in the scheme of things. We have to fill our list. chances are at that point in the draft, players aren't that great anyway. They're just fill in players to play in emergency situations.

Look all teams have different dynamics. Lets face it, Jay Schulz probably suits us better than he did at Tigerland. It happens. I don't think Lower played in the midfield for us either.

Yep. Kind of like Salter never played forward for us, or Ebert never played in the middle. They tear up the SANFL in their real positions, but we insist on playing them out of position in the AFL for some unknown reason. Lower has shown us up in his real position, and if Salter goes elsewhere he'll probably do the same. We'll never know how Ebert would've gone if we'd developed him as a midfielder instead of the talented but structure killing forward he is now.

Also, we drafted Harding as a midfielder. Who would you rather have in your midfield, Harding or Lower? Choco would rather have had Harding.
