Re: Mark Sanchez

Your thoughts on how the young Jet will go this season..?

Will Rex continue with the running game plan or will he let Sanchez throw it more?

Jets rookie defensive lineman Kenrick Ellis‘ felony assault trial has been pushed back from July to November 28. Ellis needed the postponement because he recently changed attorneys.

However, Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports that Ellis is not a U.S. citizen. Rather, the Jamaica native is a “permanent resident,” and any person who is classified as such and convicted of an aggravated felony is deportable, per United States immigration law.

Thus, Ellis’ best bet is to agree to a plea bargain before his trial. He must make sure his assault charge isn’t of the aggravated variety and carries less than a year’s sentence.

Ellis is accused of beating a man who allegedly came after him with a baseball bat on the Hampton (Va.) University campus two Aprils ago. Immediately after drafting him with the 94th overall pick, the Jets insisted they were confident in Ellis’ side of the story. The felony charge is for “malicious wounding.”

A repeat felony offense would also make Ellis eligible for deportation.

The Jets rated Ellis as the 36th overall player on their draft board. But one rival G.M. explained that Ellis’ court case made him all but undraftable in April:

“That was big for us. It’s a pain in the tail, the whole legal issue.”

Jets aim to lock up Holmes; Sanchez willing to rework deal

The Jets’ front office wasted no time beginning its pursuit of free- agent wide receiver Santonio Holmes, and the team may get an assist from quarterback Mark Sanchez.

The Jets were the first team to talk with Holmes’ agent, Joel Segal, yesterday morning, and made the wide receiver an offer later in the day, according to a source. Holmes is one of the top free agents on the market and is going to command big money. Sanchez said he is willing to restructure his contract to give the Jets cap space to pursue Holmes and other free agents.

“My agent’s already talked to me about it,” Sanchez said. “Whatever we need to do to win, it’s on. I think our whole team feels that way. If [Darrelle] Revis, me, whoever, it doesn’t matter. ... We’ll do whatever we can

I'm guessing a QB taking a pay cut to help the team keep a star player isn't that common in the NFL?

In this case, is it about Sanchez being sort of not bothered about earning maximum coin because he knows further down the track he'll get the big dollars?

Re: Mark Sanchez

1. It has happened before, and i know from Dallas, there 3 biggest players (Austin, Romo and Ware) were all going to do it to get Aso

2. He isn't even allowed to do it, as you can't restructure a rookie deal that early

3. Old news, Santonio signed a few days ago

4. How come Sanchez gets his own thread rather than the Jets thread like every what happens for every other Qb in the league

Also in restructuring, they still get similar money, it just gets shifted around

i think the point of this thread was for everyone making fun of him,and the Jets fans attempting to back him up. kind of like all the Jack Watts threads in bay13 lol

lol...Pretty much on the money:thumbsu:

shifty...just taking the opportunity here to thank in advance all the posters here on this board (like you:heart:) who provide us NFL novices with all the information, views and opinions during the season.

This is a popular board read by many NFL (Jets) fans, but alot don't post cause they might feel they are writing something stupid and more educated posters might ignore them.

I'm looking forward to a big Jets season with Sanchez hopefully leading the way with improving form. Can we keep the Sanchez thread?

We'll have a vote maybe. I'll be happy for gg to lock it if that's what people want.

What do you expect?
You try and back up Sanchez.....

Re: Mark Sanchez

Not that impressive.
Teams have to respect the run, so they played soft in coverage.
Then when the safeties realised it was a pass, they had to respect Holmes who was in the area.
And then Plax got wide open in the zone.

So it was an easy pass with everything going his way.

Too bad he made Plax turn around, and then it's in a shit position that Plax fell over while trying to turn around for YAC.

If only he threw it to the outside and let Plax get it on the run, might of gained alot more yards, with 1 juke past the safety.

Potential to be a massive play, but in the end it was just efficient.

At least it wasn't incomplete, that's one positive Jet fans can take out of it :thumbsu::thumbsu:

I'm not sure what the point of showing that was? Isn't that what every good quarterback should be able to do?

Re: Mark Sanchez

^ Think he's just excited with Sanchez' new toy. At 6'5 Plax could trouble anyone, will be interesting to see how he goes this season.

Hate to say it, but all signs point towards Sanchez having a massive breakout year

Re: Mark Sanchez

I'm just referring to the fact that it's his 3rd year in the league and should start to peak soon, he's got a 6'5 monster of a WR and arguably the best clutch WR in the NFL as well as an old, but serviceable, mason. If he doesn't explode this year, pending injuries, then he got problems.

Re: Mark Sanchez

Yer i am excited about the prospect of Sanchez stepping up and improving this season and having that giant Burress out there should speed up that improvement.

I'll keep putting up clips of him and articles in this thread just so Jets fans (and anyone else whos interested in Sanchez) can keep track of his progress.

But if you have no interest in the Jets and Mark Sanchez............(and plenty seem to not rate him at all)

This is Taylor Walker all over again.

I'm coming in to see the fans of his team overrate him. It's funny laughing at their stupidity.

Re: Mark Sanchez

 So mature.

I hate the Jets/Ryan/Sanchez etc as much as anyone but I agree with your sentiment. Coming here every week to bag the guy for the sake of it really isn't necessary. Immature, annoying and stupid.

Re: Mark Sanchez

Some good comparisons made by Teddy B and Herm Edwardes this morning on ESPN between the Jets and the Ravens. Main points were:

1. Both teams are set up to win via the run and strong D; and
2. Sanchez and Flacco are simply required not to screw up big time. They didn't say game mangers but they were heading that way.

Re: Mark Sanchez

Your correct on Flaco and Sanchez, but neither the Jets or the Ravens look like winning the bowl with these blokes at the reigns. Even the most stringent defences that have won recent Superbowls still had a QB that can step up and make big plays - see Big Ben in Pittsburgh
