Hello Mitch Brown = We lose

Also B Wilson ( ankle ) / Stevens / Stevenson have minor ? injuries and are a test on the WCE website . R Neates is PCL out for season but is part of current training sessions - so Neates cant be too bad !

Wouldn't expect Brown to be the replacement. Either bring Smith into the 21, or use the opportunity to give Butler some match practice heading into the finals.

Schofields a tall though, and with the Crows having Tippett and Walker up front we need the tall timber to cover so Brown is the likley in even though he was shite in the WAFL last week.

you could be forgiven for thinking the lions went out of their way to inflict some damage against a top side in their last game..that would be spiteful to say the least..
but probably all the result of hard footy in wet weather..it was a tough contest.
hope schoeys back for the pies..:thumbsu:
(and Rosa?..we need him)

We went into a few games midseason (including possibly the previous Crows clash?) with Glass, Schofield and Smith/Butler as our talls. I'm pretty comfortable doing it again this week, especially considering it's a dead rubber anyway.

Less so against the Pies, though.

Probably why we should give Brown a run though. If Schofield doesn't come good we'll need Brown against the Pies so I'd rather he get in a game this week just in case

The idea of Smith covering a tall makes me shudder...

Why? it's not exactly a disaster if we lose and it'd be nice to thank him for his time at the club

Egg Zachary

Is a premiership player and deserves a send off as theres little chance he will be with us next season

Drive him in a car around the stadium if we want to thank him. He's hardly a club champion and mad Monday is next week.

I don't think we can afford to be complacent. We need everything to go right for us this finals series and if that means getting an extra game into a Brown or Butler or Smith or whoever, I think that's more worthwhile.

If we weren't playing finals it would be great to give Bones a send off. We are in the finals though and we need to do everything to prepare ourselves as well as we can. So that means not playing injured/sore players unnecessarily and if we have best 22 players unavailable as result then giving game time to those just outside the 22 a game so that they are ready to step in if required.

I like Bones and he was a great servant to the club, but it is unlikely he'll play any part in our finals campaign so there is little value giving him a game for sentimental reasons

Jordand Jones for me has had a good season in the wafl deserves a game. Gives him some motivation for pre-season.

Fair enough, I do agree that it's not wise to select him ahead of someone needing a game before the final. However I do think if room opens up in this week's side, he could be selected ahead of another fringe player, purely for sentimental reasons. It all depends how many players we DO end up resting this week, as to whether there is room.

I like JJ but hes not in finals plans and everything we do here on in has to be about preparing for that. Its for this reason the bones farewell is a silly idea. Brown or Butler will come in and schoey will walk back in the week after if fit. Come on Finals, im excited!!!

Multiple fractures. I'd be amazed if he only missed a week. The selection of his replacement this week should be based on the probable match ups for the Collingwood game.

I thought this also... a week seems a very short recovery. Here's hoping he's back for Collingwood game...

get butler in?

for mine, butler is easily in our best 21 when fit. it would be good for him to get a game into him to solidify our team before the finals.

ash smith's form has wavered...perhaps butler would end up taking his spot for finals when schoey comes back?

i guess you don't want to tinker too much with a winning team, but i really believe we're at our best with butler/hurn getting it out of the backline.

Brennan reminds me alot of Schofield. Quick rebounding defender with dodgy disposal. After Brennan was the emergency last week I can see him getting the gig unless Butler is 100% fit and ready than get him in before finals.
