Sorry if there is a thread/link that sets all this out; if so I'll head there...

Looking for:
- I'm not a member - can members I know buy tickets and then give/sell to me? Or do the names on the ticket have to match up?
- what other options are there for non-members? Prices of options?
- when do they go on sale?

I know the basic info is out there but looking for the opinions of experts in potentially using sneaky loophole tactics.

I was looking at avoiding the $1400 packages.

+ I'm sitting in a wooden chair as I type this. Just trying to get organised, will be road-tripping from Sydney.

Cheers for the help.

Re: GF Tickets

Non-members? I don't see how you get a ticket unless you get a package or know somebody who has MCC tickets or some other different avenue. Even standing room tickets will be offered to members first after the ballot.

The ballot is a ****in joke. Members have to nominate for the ballot this Wednesday to receive tickets for the GF. If we don't make the GF the $5 registration fee per ticket is non-refundable.

A great way for the AFL and ticketmaster to rip everyone off.

P1ss poor. I would like to hear the AFL explain how this is a legitimate process.

Re: GF Tickets

So basically as a non member if we make the grand final I will need to fork out $1400 for some sort of package?

Does anyone know roughly what these packages contain? nose bleed section seats etc??

Re: GF Tickets

Part of me thinks that all though the atmosphere would be great I dont know if the flights + package + accomodation + car hire etc... is worth not being able to see the players and cheering things when im not sure exactly why im doing so.

Down the pub with the boys on the big TV might be just as good whilst getting a 360 degree view of the action...

Who else entered Grand Final Ballot?

So if you were a member of the Eagles or a noteholder you could pay $5 to enter the ballot for Grand Final tickets. Even though the smart money is on Geelong this weekend, i still entered.

Must admit though, a 7 hour window for entering isnt really all that long. Thankfully i get sent text messages by the club :thumbsu:

Re: Who else entered Grand Final Ballot?

I did.. now just hoping that if we win flights/accommodation don't become too much of a nightmare.
flights are already ridiculous, but praying for a win is the first BIG step ;)

If we do get up, im considering a road trip starting Thursday morning. Have spoken to people who did it in a group of 4 in 2006, and they loved it.

OK - so here's my over-excited long winded 'ner ner' - but jesus I am getting excited!....

You guys seriously needed to get shit organised long ago lol! As soon as eagles were half a chance I had Melbourne organised as a family holiday... then if we make the GF it just means an awesome bonus add-on to the trip.

To go just for the GF and fly back youd have to be either loaded, or a fanatic and place value on the "I was there when we won the 2011 GF..." side of things for years to come - which is cool in itself for sure. Otherwise if the "I was there" factor isnt big, as you say Bodazoka itd be just as awesome a memory to have been in a stacked pub screaming your guts out!

But another possibility is to make it more than just the GF... then the cost starts to rationalise a bit with a few more "memories" softening the shock of how much you paid to otherwise go for just 2 days... if you can - go for a week and spend another $1000 doing pubs and shows and staying at a backpackers (and get cheaper flights away from the weekend rush too)... remember that at the same time as the GF in Melbourne is the Fringe Festival, Melbourne Festival, Comedy Festival, Melbourne Royal Show, etc... (plus an awesome blokey broadway show with pole dancers etc called Rock of Ages at the Melbourne Comedy Theatre - hilarious).... you do a week and pack that sort of stuff in and suddenly your $3000 GF splurge turns into a $4000 shit-load of awesomeness and memories to laugh over with mates/missus/kid for years :thumbsu:

I got organised and saving the $$ weeks back, so for an all-up budget of $4500 for ALL FIVE of us (flights/accomm/meals/events) we get 16 nights over there:

- 5 x return flights booked weeks ago = $790 return all up inc luggage!
- 9 nights accomm in an old beach shack on Phillip Island $50/night - surf and sand at the doorstep :)
- 7 nights accomm in a grand 2 bed apart in awesome hotel in St Kilda $150/night
- Heaps of of fancy meals, drink cards, etc for cheap with those scoopons and spreets things last couple of weeks - cost like $600 for $2000+ worth
- $215 for 5 to Royal Show incl $190 ride vouchers
- 2 x tickets to Rock of Ages
- Phillip Island MotoGP
- Melbourne Festival Comedy Show
- 3 x Fringe Festival Shows
- A few family tours/activities down Phillip Island - penguins, mazes and stuff
- 2 x gauranteed grand final tickets for me and the boy if we make it thanks to a friendly BF legend on here
- Spending money for everything else

Phew ... ^ not bad for under $5000 for 5 peeps!

Can you tell I'm getting amped!!! :D

So yeah - the Eagles over Geelong, and making the GF tickets come to fruition, will be the icing on the cake! :thumbsu:

so,
1) You really want the Eagles to win
2) You really need some luck with the ballot.

Thats 2 massive "ifs"...

Not sure if i want to plan a September holiday to Melbourne every time the Eagles look like making the Top 4.

Re: GF Tickets

You did awesomely well Brazen! Can you plan a holiday for me please?

I was thinking of something similar for next year. :)

Think you massively missed the point ... I'm looking forward to an awesome holiday with the family... that I could make happen at the same time as the GF just in case... the focus aint the GF mate

And one of your IFs is out the way - my friendly BF legend fairy-godfather is a Noteholder (guess you missed the 'guaranteed GF tickets' part of my post) :thumbsu:

So now its just the understandably long odds of an Eagles win that has to fall into place... but if it dont happen - Im amped about the holiday anyways (thats the point I was making)

Here's my 'ner ner', I'll be paying a ridiculous amount of money to be flying in on Thursday night and flying back on Sunday just for the GF. So if the Eagles lose to Geelong this weekend the blow will be cushioned by the fact I'll be saving $2k+ and not having to spend half the following weekend flying...

...I'll grant you that your 'ner ner' is better and I wish I'd had your foresight

Haha nah I can tell you if I hadnt bothered getting that bucket list sorted - I am a fanatic who wants an 'I was there' buzz... and Id have scrounged to get there just for the weekend too (well probably at least the extra few days to get some drinking and festival shit in too - but my work is pretty flexible)

I tick that way too - If we win you gotta do it for sure... but not everyone has too - can get a huge buzz from a pub with atmosphere of course too :thumbsu:

CMON EAGLES!

05 I winged it with last minute flights. 06 was the same. 07 i thought i would get all smart and booked a holiday in Fiji via Melbourne for a few days and we didn't even make it. Fiji holiday was great but being in Melbourne on GF day without the eagles playing sucked bigtime.

At the end of the day i still rate the 06 grand final as one of the 3 best days of my life. The other 2 are my wedding and when my son was born. And i can tell you the Grand Final was a shitload cheaper ;)

My sister lives in Melbourne and ive promised her that if she gets tickets to the GF and the eagles make it i will come visit her. She knows a fair few MCC collingwood supporters so if collingwood loose and we win (fat chance) im defs over there. Heres hoping she can get tickets anyway if we win.

Added bonus i get free accommodation and get to visit my sister:thumbsu:

Grand Final Land Package

Sorry to start a new thread but I thought this may be of interest to someone.

I have 1 Premium Grand final ticket and final siren Package.
One of my mates has pulled out and he no longer requires it.

The cost was $1900.00 and I have no interest in making any profit off it. (The AFL have scalped enough I would think)

PM myself if you are interested, first in best dressed.
Cmon the Eagles
