If this guy turns to out to be byron pickett qaulity, Buckley has a backline that will dominate for years, personally i see a shit load of harry o in this guy, which is great in itself. I love that this youth is being picked with so much thought, i mean for the past 3 or so years all nd pisks have been high, be some way guys like ceglar, elliot, and now this guy drafted with imagintion and in a somewhat sneaky like manner. I dont look at draft selection number, because i know the pies will turn the player into something better than what they would of been somewhere else. Currently it doesnt matter how these players make there way to the pies, once there the magic just starts to happen and then bang. premierships, all australians, brownlows.. This young bloke will be no different.

Certainly looks a likely type. Jesus Baulks has really saved this thread from turning into bigfooty mythology though.

In no way does the kid look anything like Brad Dick, or a small forward at all. In no way did he show any sign of real electric pace or mobility. What he did show was a good attack on the footy, clean hands, and unconventional but long kick and good composure under pressure. Projects much more as a back flanker / wing type then a forward.

Whoever compared him to Leon Davis is our most recent graduate from the school of crack although the Brad Dick suggestion is almost equally cracky (the only difference in crack levels is that Dick is taller)

^^^ I thought the exact same thing. He certainly projected more of an "inside" type than an electric outside runner. Most of his highlights were in contested situations where he was winning the hard ball and feeding out handballs.

Still his kicking skills at the draft camp were at a high standard which in that video didn't do him any justice on that basis.

This guy is more like Shaun Burgoyne, but a better kick, if he develops well.

His best asset is his dynamight left foot (distance and accuracy) also really classy around the ground and has a hunger for tackling (which seems to be a theme)

Just love the tackles. Kicking great and judgement in some of the marks he took. I'm big keving

It is quite unique to see a player look so laconic yet at the same time be so tough at the contest. The only player I've ever seen exhibit those 2 characteristics is Pickett, but that's not who he remind's me of.

Personally he remind's me of Jarred Brennan, but with a much better inside game. They both have that really laconic nature, with an awkward (yet effective) left foot kicking style, Yagmoor's ability overhead suggests that he plays taller than what he actually is and IMO both are best suited to playing wing or off the HBF.

If I had to compare him to a current Pies player though my best guess would be Seedsman, but that's just one man's opinion.....

He has an awkward kicking style but he disposes of it so quickly! He hits it low and flat too which gives his kicks good distance.

I was most impressed though with his ability to read the play in tight, win the ball and clear with clever handpasses. With Pendles, Beams, J Thomas and now Yagmoor that is some serious quality when it comes to handballing.

His go, tackling and contested marking were all highlights too. There is a lot to work with there.

Oh and while he wasn't lightening fast he was hardly slow either.

.

Kicking the ball low and flat usually deprives the kicker of distance... If you want to get the most distance, you usually kick the ball high and 'archy'.

The thing missing from his highlights was an indication of ability to run with the ball. If he doesn't have this aspect to his game (and is just an inside player) he won't make it as a half back. Unless he plays on medium talls, but at his height he won't get away with that at AFL level.

Sexton would probably be my choice of the QLD boys this year. But Yagmoor close 2nd and is an intriguing addition. Did GC zone Sexton in the end out of interest?

Brewer is the other I like from QLD. At his size a Witts + Brewer combo just intrigues me.

*Heard the Yagmoor deal over the radio this morning and they must have announced via GWS, or perhaps I was not fully awake. All I know is I'm not a morning person.
The thing that confused me with the deal was more the fact that he is only just this year of draft age. Had no idea a deal of this sort could be allowed.

Watching Yagmoor makes me think possibly a harder version of last years Sammy Crocker.
Did like his game from the u18 champs.
The big weakness I had from Yagmoor's game was probably more the consistancy, which hopefully comes with more endurance. But in a weak QLD side can't really blame him for not having that consistant influence.

Sure did. Sexton was our first selection actually. Nabbed him a few weeks ago. Check him out here.

I think Hine recognised that fact and stated in the CTV interview that he's got a fair bit of development to go. But this I guess is the way you 'find' diamonds in the rough. You work with one or two great qualities and try to polish the other facets.

If Buttifant get's medieval on him, that sluggish look might disappear. Was able to work wonders with Balls pace and endurance.

I've known Peter since he was a little kid running around the club rooms when I played footy with his dad. Even as a young kid people would allways be amazed by how he seemed to glide over the ground. He probably had better skills than most seniors at the club by the time he was 12. You've got yourselves a good footballer there, and a great person. Half his family live in Melbourne so he'll have plenty of support. Even though they are Carlton people to the death expect to see a large amount of " Lebanese flavoured " support for him when he gets his first game.

I thought he was Aboriginal?

Brown (retired)
Dick (retired)
McCarthy (traded or will nominate for PSD)

Rumoured:

Macaffer is looking at his options (personally hope he stays really rate him).
Stubbs moved from senior list to rookie list.
Most of rookie listed been given the flick.

So that is 5 spots if the rumours are true, we could also see more of the rumoured Stubbs scenario with others.

Mooney will be an international rookie, also I suspect Hartley will be offered a spot either senior or rookied.

Would be surprised if Bolton wasn't upgraded (if the Richmond rumours aren't true).

Then we have the picks we received in trade which iirc must be used in the draft (50 and 67).

Up to 8 spots but not that many places suspect some wont eventuate and some will be rookied/delisted.

Irish players are not considered to be international players if I remember correctly. Onto rookie list proper for Mooney.

Info From Offsfider in BF Trial Mock Draft

Pick 66: Gold Coast - Peter Yagmoor

Club: Morningside (QLD)
Age: 17
Height: 180 cm
Weight: 83 kg

Gold Coast get one of the better QLD prospects this year in Yagmoor, who could be zoned to them but has received interest from several clubs, and indeed is going to draft camp. He can play as a mid/HBF but gets a bit lost at times in the middle, so he might take a few years to become a consistent performer. He had a decent champs, and was one of QLD's better players with his kicking a highlight.

His skill level is very high and his left foot is a real weapon, 60m low flat penetrating passes to advantage. His decision making can be suspect a little though, and he can try a little to much at times, but he really breaks zones with his low flat passes. He has clean hands and is one touch, does not fumble and when he gets the ball, he uses it well. He has good pace and moves nicely, good agility. I have doubts over his endurance, and he needs to pick his work-rate up a bit, as they have a bit too do behind is inconsistency in games. He tackles and competes well in the air, and there is a lot to work with. A very good prospect who I rate a fair bit higher than where he was picked up.

Sounds like that Left Foot is a Real Weapon he has but has somethings to Work On. Clean hands are good too
