Toast Apologise to Ben Sinclair....

I thought that the big Geelong bodies blocked his path to the ball and he was overwhelmed by their size. I figured he'd do more of the same against Adelaide, but he scampered everywhere in pursuit of the pill or someone with it, and size didn't see a factor despite Adelaide's previous excellence in contested possession. Sinkers is a certainty to hold his spot.

Sinclair is not a player that I sledged apart from the comparison to Barham, though I think he is a better player than Barham now. He has become a favourite because of his diminutive stature and over-sized heart, a bit like the 6 cyl coupe Torana I drove for an all too brief time in the 70's. Small is beautiful, but with a big engine and in the wrong hands, dangerous. Sinclair has learned to play to his strengths. He seems to offer more than just fringe club memberhip.

I'm sorry sinclair. Now have my babies.

Number 13! your humor gets me every time! Keep it up! It's good to get a laugh when jumping on BF each day. :thumbsu: :)

On a side note.... This Sinclair situation has just opened my eyes to needing to give blokes a chance. I didn't bag him much at all but I didn't think he was AFL standard after round 3.
It just goes to show that anyone can prove you wrong. Without his kick to faz against Geelong we may have lost.

He will keep his spot and will be a very great testament to Bucks' new coaching style: get games in to the kids; unearth the hidden gems.

Sinclair was nervous and didn't fit in his first 3 games. But he has had the valor to work past that and now there is prob noone else in the 2's who would be able to play the role which he is playing to the same standard. I think by the end of the year of he keeps improving he'll be a massive asset and possibly irreplaceable! Let's dream big!

His situation is making me see why we're persisting with S.Buckley.
I feel that Nathan will play Simon more often than not this year. If he has cemented his spot and gained that confidence by finals then id say he, along with Tom Young (at this stage) will be delisted.

I just love how some are so quick to jump on his supposed negatives. After 13 games?

In 13 games, he has shown just how much of an asset he can be. I don't mind if you still dont judge his kicking, but some have written it off after his first 4 games this season.

So calculate it, he had played 8 games and people were already waiting for his head to be chopped off because of a supposed kicking inability that was happening irregularly.

Makes me giggle like a little girl.

His headlong attack on a free ball near the wing on Sat nite with players closing in from all sides is typical of his attitude, I swear he didn't blink. Even the commentry team said 'Well done son' or something similar. Kid has serious balls!

Exactly.

That ball show out and Dangerfield was in pursuit. In fact Danger had the advantage in every sense of the word, he was much closer to the ball and had momentum.

Sinclair burst from his spot, Danger saw him coming and took short steps. Sinclair gathered it at full pace, burst through Dangers tackle and handballed to Wellingham, this lead directly to Beams goal.

Sensational effort.

In fact, I was so impressed here it is in freeze frame by frame. Never thought Ben Sinclair would make Patty Dangerfield shit himself....

I liked everything about Sinclair's game except for his disposal. That worried me & still does a bit. There is no questioning his effort or ferocity at the ball. The game against Adelaide suited him, he could crack in & just get it moving our way. His ability & speed to get to multiple contests is simply brilliant and more than makes up for his disposal.

Get over to Pie Central and check out the last quarter at around the 12.10 mark THAT is what sinkers brings to the club and why Bux and the selection commitee have stuck by him! :thumbsu:

I am just glad Buckley did not listen to Pies fan early in the season he is proving to be a much better judge of players than we are.The worse thing I said was that he might be like Toovey a player in who,s hand,s you don,t want the ball in but aside from his goalkicking from further than 25 mtrs out his kicking is certainly getting better by the week.

His field kicking is fine and improving all the time and by god if he were dropped now we would be in serious trouble his tackling and pressure are absolutely 1st class and we would miss that big time did he play 2 games last year or 3 but either way his improvement is fantastic.

Ps even Tooves has lowered his bad disposal level this year so maybe Buckley,s message is getting through he just needs to speak to Clokey and Dawes about getting their accuracy up.:thumbsu:

.....NOW!!!

Have always thought this kid could play but tonight just proved it even more..... Hit every contest at hundred miles an hour and his skills were as good as anyones bar maybe Pendles (Is it possible to be a sublime as our #10?).

Well done Benny.... Shoved it right up the nay sayers! :thumbsu:

I was the first to hate this guy but he is slowly winning me over!

With this whole thread in mind, can we chill the **** out on the Tom young and Peter yagmoor crucifixion. It wreaks of Sinclair bashing- "give them some time!"

Getting better every week.

With a full list free of injuries (which we dont have) he might actually be best 22 now....I reckon he has passed Fasolo and might get a game ahead of Krakouer too. Its great to see how a player can improve simply by the coach having faith in him.

Agree Timmy.

Sinclair is basically a lock if he keeps his form and attack on the ball / man up
