Anyone visit this site over the years?

I have been a member of it since 2004, but have had enough of the poor moderating and the stupid fighting etc.

They have one mod on there, who removes negative posts about our beloved footy team. He is a total peanut, some old guy apparently from Northern NSW.

I can see why some fans stay clear of the site in recent seasons.
 
I was going to join a while back, but noticed its more about the personalities and in fighting of late than the club....

I don't want to criticise to much because they're every bit as passionate as anyone here, however I post on BF because it's all a bit of fun and it just doesn't seem that way on Nick's ATM to me.
 
Nope, was going to join but i like the lighter side of footy a lot more, BF is better <3

I have only been active here a very short time. There seems to be a bit of friction here also among posters, though not as much as Nick's. Fighting here does seem broken up quicker by mods. I think there are people who prefer Nick's because of the greater freedom as posters. There are people who prefer here because the discussion is better. Everyone is different.
 
Nicks is a little too protective of a small insular group of posters on there, if you post something that even disagrees with their point of view, it is either removed or you are blasted by several of the regulars for having a point of view.

I post there, but not as much as here, plus there's absolutely no interaction with opposition supporters which I know is the point, but it still lacks that overall perspective that we get here.

It is what it is, a Collingwood board solely for Collingwood supporters, but it has always been very protective of a small group of long term members.
 
It's a little too far down the rabbit hole for me.

Don't visit it really unless DTM links. No particular bone to pick with it, Bigfooty though gives you the chance to go into combat with other fans. Can understand why some people can't be fagged with that though.

It also breeds some weird victimisation complex. Some guy was complaining that he posted about why Carlton beat us in Round 3 on their board while they were commiserating about their loss to Port and was genuinely suprised he got a warning for it. :eek:

I don't mind reading it but I think some of the posters they could actually do with some non-collingwood view points occassionally.

That's the reason I left Nicks, been a member there for several years.

When 'Joffa' stops posting on there, then you know something is wrong with it.

I noticed less of the long-termers posting on there in the past couple of seasons.

'Tess' is another poster I dont see on there anymore.

Nicks was one of the first supporter sites and was great in the early days when Mike (Nick's father) ran the show. I haven't been there for years. It became a painful place to even visit let alone post on. There were some very good posters but in the end too many egos and not enough brain cells killed it. Not really sure what it'slike these days and apologies to the good posters if they remain here but it's not for me.
 
If it's true that a heavy hand is used on the site to curtail critique, then it's a hard model to sustain. If there's no arguing with opposition supporters and no internal debate, it will become a ghost town.
 
To be fair though, this board(like most I'm sure) get a little painful at times.

Each to their own.

Tess was banned on there when i still posted there.

I don't have any real issues with Nicks, i'm just finding less and less time to post anywhere these days. Prefer the more AFL here as well i suppose
 
I been on it since 2005 but the last few years it's gone Backwards and as you say there is a lot of Personal Abuse on the site now. The Older posters are good
 
I used to post on there, but the constant bickering between certain posters put me off. I still occasionally read it though. It always gives me a good laugh when some of them have a go at BigFooty without realising how bad their board is.
