Enough is enough - Watts must play the last games as the key forward playing out of the goal square.

He has done his time at half back and he has racked up plenty of cheap ball, but now is the time to play him where he should be - where he can hit the scoreboard and impact games.

with Clark out and nobody worth a damn in the forward line, its the logical thing to do.

Personally I'd prefer to see Watts with ball in hand up the ground, delivering it to our forwards. If he stays at full forward who's going to kick it to him with any precision?

Watts is our best user and decision maker, I like him at half back. Yeah sure he was drafted as a key forward, but play him where he's most valuable.

I must admit part of me hopes Watts ends up at CHF but as I said, play him where hes going to impact the most!

Who is Watts going to kick it to up forward? We have no targets for him to kick to. Now with Strauss back playing he can play off the half back line and deliver the ball with his good skills and decision making but he needs someone to kick to, Watts, Howe and Cook should all be playing in the Forward line for the rest of the year.

Cook will get broken in two

He is SUPER light

Needs a big summer in the gym
We have a games against Gold Coast and GWS, I'm sure he could handle himself in those games, a few games before the end of the season will be great for his experience and then he can see how hard he needs to work in the off season to compete at this level, we have nothing to lose.

I know we have nothing to lose, I know we have games against GCS and GWS (who mind you have some bigger bodied defenders), but I have visions of:

You serious?

Last I heard Cook was 196 cm and 88 kg. That's much bigger than Watts in his first year.

...where he can ... impact games.

I don't think Watts is going to impact any games out of the goalsquare. Our midfield is where we're losing.

And, for that matter, everyone has been banging on all year about Melbourne's inability to develop talent. Here we've got a highly talented player who has been roundly crucified in the media for over two years because he wasn't generating a return in the forward line. He's been sent down back, where he has performed solidly (and consistently improving), has been given a bit of a public pat on the back in the media and would finally be starting to feel good about his performances... and you want to take that away?

That's not player development. It's stupid.

Leave Watts down back for mine. I see him as vital to our defence now and think his future lies as a versatile defender with the ability to push into a variety of roles. Without him in defence, we have a significant lack of class, poise and skill to bring the ball out from where it all to regularly goes. We can't just rely on Strauss to be the only skillful one in the backline. Watts, Strauss and Nicholson gives our backline better balance with Frawley, McDonald and Rivers/Garland. This is the area of the ground we can get settled now. The midfield and forwardline have holes that we don't yet have the pieces to fill and moving Watts won't plug them.

Or, where he can flounder in no-man's land, lose all confidence again and have zero impact on game, unlearning in a fortnight whatever it is he has hopefully been learning for the last 8-10 games.

How the hell can you be so sure what is best for Watts and the MFC?

OMG did he survive that? I'm sure Lucas will be fine

How is he going to have confidence in himself when no one else does, I would back him to play at full forward. Watts has only ever played on the flanks, I would go up to him and say "son you're playing full forward this game" that will give him confidence.

Or, where he can flounder in no-man's land,

We had more inside 50's than Port and lost.

We had more than Brisbane and lost by 10 goals.

Thats just 2 examples of where Watts up forward would have helped us. The ball gets in there and we have nobody that can conjure anything up.

With both Clark and LJ out, Watts must be played forward.

In the same way Jeremy Cameron does?

According to the club sites, Cameron is 8kgs heavier than Cook. I admitted it's fair enough if Cook is actually 88kgs as Eth pointed out

And Blackas87 - yes he survived, but he clearly wasn't ready to play - not to mention the endless jokes and scrutiny that moment put on Jack

You're talking like the forwards are leading up and mids are hitting targets on the chest. Most of the i50's would've been BLIND BOMBS to outnumbered team mates.

I agree with you tap_my_scott I like Watts up playing up the ground, but being coached by Leigh Brown might do him more harm than good!

Honestly it doesn't really matter where we move our players if none of them can connect targets. Watts is a good kick, so put him in the forward, he gets no goals, put him in the midfield no one kicks from his entries. At least he's accountable in the backline. That being said I'd like to have him play where he was recruited. Excuse my jumbled ramblings.
