Pick 4 - Melbourne FC

Umm, we weren't caught having so called "secret" meetings. Haven't had any former players speak up from our club.
True clubs have "tanked" in the past, but not as brazen and as open as the Dees.
You've been caught with your pants down . Fact

So the AFL have announced that we're guilty of tanking have they?

No, I didn't think so, so gagf :)

Completely different injuries.

Name me one player who's gone on to have a successful career after having surgery on both hips.

For what it's worth, I think he'll be a gun and no doubt the Melbourne Doctors know more than I do, I'm just pointing out there was a risk in picking him, and there's absolutely no doubt in my mind he would've gone to GWS had it not been for that risk.

Wow, you clearly know a lot about his operation. Why don't you tell everyone exactly what he had done and how this is going to affect the rest of his career.

This is going to be good :)

Jimmy is an absolute steal at 4, he has it all plus a ton of upside. Clear now with the value of hindsight, GWS dont want "the best available" they want a bunch of mates that will hopefully, stick together, yeah right. If Jimmy was a Victorian he would have gone 1, you can bank on that.

Weren't there interviews with Toumpas where he talked about other players who had had the same operation?

He'll be fine.

You wont get a response cause there isnt one to get.
Danny Roach for the Pies was a 1st round pick who had hip surgery and never made it as a player. Then I think Steve Johnson has had hip surgery and also Vardy, and they both seem OK. It really depends on what the extent of the injury is, and in your case it sounds pretty minor.

I'm happy, but after recent Dees drafting form I'll not be counting my chickens. I thought he was a better prospect than Whitfield when they were seen as 1 and 2 because of his leadership - but there's obviously a reason they overlooked him so I'd better reserve judgement. Kid is rapt to be at the MFC, so good luck to him.

Possibly, but there's a risk in picking any player. As you said the Demon doctor's are paid for due diligence in medical matters. So by your own admission you feel that GWS have made a mistake! :)

I can't see GWS passing on Toumpas, I'd obviously love them to but I just can't see it happening.

Hogan, Viney and Toumpas...

Watts, Scully and trengove... exactly what point are you trying to make?

And this, from 2007 thread...
Morton, Grimes, Maric

Absoloutely awesome!!

I think there's a lesson in there for all of us. (Not meaning to single out Dees btw, it's just that they make for a great example, over and over again.)

Good pickup, Grimes and Trengove, both captains and both have a great future.

That is what you meant isn't it, because if you're suggesting that Grimes and Trengove have been failures then that says more about your lack of football knowledge than anything else.

I also like the fact that on BF that only Melbourne fans aren't allowed to be happy with their draft picks.

LOL, what a nuffy

Toumpas will be a gun. But if Melbourne are found guilty of tanking it's a joke they got to keep pick 4.

In what world is it fair to be sentenced prior to an investigation ending and charges being laid.

There has been three years for this investigation to happen. It should of been completed before the trade period even began.

Speculation.

But I agree and always have.

Of course. But not blind speculation. There's enough murmurs from ex-players and officials.
Like I said, I believe it's just a matter of whether the AFL can assemble the required evidence.
