What a shock!

I'm starting to wonder about Kurt's motivation for leaving us, was it really because he wanted to get away from SA or was it because he already had an offer he liked on the table?

I think he was genuinely going to stay (we were told by Blucher to draw the contract up, he was signing on Monday) and then he gets some forced R&R with concussions and Sydney get into his ear.... $ signs filled the vacuous content of his head and the rest, as they say, is history.

I don't think we can tell either way unless we know the exact date when Sydney made their first move.

I gave you the like because the bolded part.:D

So how did HE know about it and we were all blind sided by it?
Because our club have the eye one the ball ;)

Rather than getting him to sign, we send him on leave to think about things & give other clubs the opportunity to get in his ear.

Awesomely managed club!

Thats bs! We were drawing up contracts as requested by Blucher. Tip then received his third concussion and was then, in good faith, told to have a break to recover. Nek minute Sydney are in his ear and the rest is history.

If we were serious about signing up Tippett, we shouldn't have given him time off to think about things - we should have signed him up, then given him the holiday. We gave Sydney the opportunity & they said thank you very much. We need to be more ruthless.

We could have put a gun to his head and forced him to sigh, wouldn't have got him to sign.

He was never going to sign, he was always leaving and he was stalling all year. He was never staying - NEVER.

If he had any intention of staying, he would have just signed the 2009 contract and taken it from their. If he was staying, their would never have been a need for a second round trade agreement.

Look its been long admitted that he was negotiating with them in august

That came out before trade week

We didn't give him time off to think about things. We were having contracts drawn up and he then suffered his third concussion. He needed time to recover and in good faith we let him do that. He'd already said he'd sign, I guess they took him at his word and had no reason to doubt him. We had a press release ready to go, that's how sure we were.

In hindsight now, I am really glad he didn't sign. I just feel we have dodged a bullet. He would have been paid far more than he was worth and ultimately one knock away from a career ending concussion.

Except before he went talking to the swans gold coast thought he had agreed to join them

Perhaps blucher was shopping him around? Not unheard of, but blucher definitely told us he was signing and to get contracts drawn up. I suspect we had offered more than gc was going to.

Find that very hard to believe, what I do believe is your 'source' gave you information simply to keep a fan happy.

They stated at the time (when he chose swans) they would not be trying to trade for him, because after having agreed to join them, that perhaps he wasn't the character they needed around the club.

Supposedly Gunston told the crows he was signing too and poor innocent naive lil old us were tricked - people ate that up too, no wonder the club tried to use that line again.

Do you think they will try and hood wink us a third time with it this year?

Its the bullshit excuse that keeps on giving :p

that is probably more worrying if true Jenny, because it means we didn't learn from the Guston debacle.

I don't believe either scenario myself

Have you noticed both scenarios - supposedly identical - pass of all blame onto the player, and accept no blame onto ourselves, except that we're too decent, too trusting, too damned "australian"?

I smell a rat.

Not that it matters of course, but in terms of discussion I don't believe either event played out as we claimed. Just too convenient
