Roast Biased umpires - time for Carlton to make a statement

Blatantly so. Within about 10-15 minutes of each incident.

Both times the doctor raises his hand and points towards the open space. Carlton kicked to the spot both times.

Pointed to the space? Holy shit! That's incredible. What annoys me that whatever action is taken, will not benefit us in any way.

We probably shouldn't. I just don't like us all being tarred with the same brush unless everybody is going to fly the flag for our supporters on the main board. Nothing worse than having my opinion invalidated because I'm just a whinging Carlton supporters.

As I said, tonight was bad, but if we claim umpiring costs us games too often, then nobody gives a damn when it really does happen. There is a Saints supporter routinely ridiculed for complaining about the umpiring too much.

Everything in moderation (pardon the pun) and pick the times.

We are Carlton though ? We are always going to cop flak from supporters from all other 17 clubs since we support Carlton.

is it just me or do consistantlt get screwed over by the umps the essendon game was only game this year where we got a fair go. whats is happening here is every other club is training there players how to pkay for free kicks and play the system but we are not. how clear is it , i mean come on we are behind the eight ball here i hate it seeing players play or free kicks WE NEVER DO IT OTHER TEAMS DO IT ALL THE TIME NO WONDER WE GET SCREWED. its clear as day if you cant see this your blind

There was a decision of holding the ball against Cachia early in the game on Hawthorn's 50 metre line. The ball bounced to him, he got tackled, couldn't get rid of it and got a free against him.

I went BALLISTIC at that decision...and of course it was Chamberlain

It was paid for making no attempt to dispose.. it's basically a shit rule, not really the umpires fault. How can you possibly make an attempt when you are immediately wrapped up with your arms pinned. You guys definitely got the rough end of it tonight there is no doubt..

We don't often get an armchair ride tonight we did..

As KnaveyBlue said he led to space - demanded that the Blue passed it to him in the space. Pointed to it, moved in that direction and flat out stopped.

One of the worst I've seen tonight.

The deliberates that were exactly the same 5 minutes apart was disgusting.

I would love to sit in the match analysis and ask the umps what was going through their heads at particular times.

Of all the sports I watch AFL officiating is the most frustrating to watch.

Tonight was farking disgusting.

Boys played well though

There was a distinct difference in the deliberates, the Hawks one was a total miscue that was supposed to go along the edge of the centre square. The Carlton one was a flush kick out of a pack that went exactly where it was intended. It was more a couple of holding the ball, in the back decisions where you guys were very hard done by.

Yeah so the one where you kicked it thirty meters from the closest Hawthorn player out of the backline and towards the boundary wasn't deliberate? How'd that player ever get on the Hawks list?

Agreed with the in the backs... Had it been consistent Josh Gibson would have set an AFL record with free kicks against.

More about the fact that you guys had 10 frees in a row with a fair of them been rather soft or iffy while your players would get caught with the ball numerous times for no free or wouldn't get punished for the same offense.

No he was trying to kick it up the middle of the ground and completely shanked it... it was a rushed kick out of a pack that was attempting to kick the belly of the ball that hit the left point and hooked hard right towards the boundary line.

Hawthorn definitely benefited from the umpiring tonight

3 or 4 times in the second half I thought we were very lucky

Not sure what you guys have done to piss of Giesch. We've been towards the bottom of the free kick differential most years in the last decade

Okay.. now explain how Murphy wasn't even rewarded a free from the Hodge hit?

Nope clear shoulder. No down field free for Roughead's late head high hit on Simpson too.

Not sure if you read my earlier post, but I am agreeing that we got a good run of some pretty ordinary umpiring... I thought Lake could have been pinged once or twice for hands in the back also.. having said that if you blokes were paid all of the frees that you are complaining about and we were pinged for the ones you wanted also the frees would have been 30 to 10 your way...

Late head high hits and obvious dropping the balls frees aren't exactly asking too much of the umpires though.

Which examples of too high or in the back were missed to us other then the Simpson one you have identified which I reckon wasn't really there anyway ??

What about the smack on the top of the head that Walker got from Gibson in the last quarter? Head high contact in the marking contest, regardless of whether Gibson made contact with the ball (which I don't think he did), should have been a free, was 30m out directly in front.

Oh I know, you think that would have just been a point anyway because you want to bitch about our player's goal kicking in a game where they converted just about as well as they've done all year.

There was an obvious one that wasn't paid for front on contact on D Hale in the goalsquare that was also missed, dropping / holding the ball v's "knocked out in the tackle, play on" is another shit rule that should be cleaned up.

Would really love to see footage of this.

I was at the game, and I thought he was a Carlton player myself. Not sure if he actaully 'lead' into space didn't really see it well enough, but would be really keen to see some footage if anyone has it.

Surely the Hawks officials should not be wearing colours that clash with ours anyway? What is wrong with a nice fluro vest?

I went to the game as a neutral supporter and what I saw tonight was an utter disgrace! Hawks had the game handed to them on a platter. Ive not read any other posts on this thread so im prob repeating what people have already said. It wasnt the free kick count as such but it was the fact that there were so many dubious and flat out incorrect free kicks given to the Hawks at crucial stages that all seemed to end in Hawks goals. Those pigs seem to get a free ride every time they step out on the park. Anyway bad luck I thought Blues were the better side tonight.
