I don't think anyone is implying it's a done deal. I would say there's a 50% he stays at the Giants, 35% he comes to Adelaide, 15% chance he goes to Essendon.
What a shitty result for GWS.
A bidding war between two teams who don't have any draft picks.

Terry Wallace on 5AA said that Clubs would do some deals where they indicated to a club that they would not draft a certain player in order for a particular trade to go ahead. This would occur when clubs were in close proximity to each other in the draft.

Fascinating. o_O

I would have thought thats draft tampering.

Anyone else hear this on 5AA???

I think the AFL have missed a trick here, there is a lot of AFL supporters that would love to hear the inside communications between clubs regarding trading.

Lost opportunity to make money.

It would be funny wanting to hear for example us trying to sell Smack.

No one wants mckernan atm
Hmmm - wonder if he thought it was a simple matter of waltzing back to Melb. Time will tell, still 4 days to go - I would still rather keep him , better back up than Graham.

Noble:"See Mckernan has a lot of upside, in fact for him the only way is up. You know what they say, buy low."

Opp list manager:"Isn't it buy low, sell high?".

Noble:"No, no, I am pretty sure it is just 'buy low'".

Media coverage everyday, AFL due hards glued every day. get used it, trade marathon not going anywhere soon

One, two years ago he was a 22/21 year old forward-ruck who could be traded on potential. Not so much anymore.

Boggles the mind.

Likewise however, if there is nothing going for him we may as well keep him and get him to do the one thing he's actually good at.. jumping in a straight line and hit a ball..

I agree with this, support of the Club goes beyond the support of the administration. The Club is bigger than the people in charge.
The club is... but you wouldn't know it from reading the posts of several BF members.

That is fair enough but reality is the whole trade period has been about restocking to cover for loss of top draft picks that due to poor season would have got us 2 very good picks due to the man we should not talk about here.
No, it's got nothing to do with covering for the Tiprat penalties. It is purely about improving our playing list by trading to fill identified deficiencies.

Such as draft picks. Who knows if Bernie would have been traded if we had a pick in the 20's I dare say we wouldn't have seen the need seeing as we are only looking at going one or two picks deep.

Happened last year with dealings between GWS, Suns and Melbourne. Melbourne paid a little bit more for Hogan so that GWS wouldn't bid on Viney.

I don't see why that trade wouldn't have happened regardless of the penalties.

Grand final Saturday

Free agency opens 9am Monday

Free agency closes, response period opens 5pm Wednesday

Free agency response period closes 5pm Friday

Free agency compensation announced 8am Monday

Trade week opens 9am Monday

Trade week closes 5pm Friday

Delisted free agency period opens 9am Monday, remains open until the list lodgment date required for the Draft.

Players in demand only need to hang around 1/2 weeks after the Grand final before heading off on holiday, delisted ones have other things on their mind anyway.

Simple as **** AFL, get your shit together.

What is the problem with a longer trade period? Apart from people getting bored with not enough action day to day - where is the downside?

You mean apart from the week between the end of the Grand Final and the start of free agency where nobody could get caught doing anything because it was against the rules, but every club was doing everything because to not do so would be to fall behind, and then the Franklin deal came out and had to be announced with inquiry conveniently ignored?

Or where club has decided their response to a departing FA player well before the response period?

The AFL has only drawn it out to have everyone talking about AFL for an extra month of the year, no other reason, yet it is beyond tedious.

Seriously, thats all you got left? Spelling? Pathetic much?

I quite agree. It is pathetic that people criticise you for spelling.
Most educated people regard spelling as grammar's poor cousin.
"Pathetic much?", should obviously have been written as, "Don't you think that is quite pathetic?" or similar ...
