ASADA relied on 'vague' accounts - The Australian 27/12/13

My point is what I have argued for the last three days. That the SO code is one that only has a short term future, unless it is modified.
Most code provisions are modified over the years. The purpose of S.0 is pretty clear, to prevent experimental and possibly harmful drugs being used. Agree?

If so, then not much of S.0 needs changing IMO.

My assessment is that Hird was always going to be paid - it was part of the negotiation.

He was the one spoiling for this to go to court - not the AFL or EFC. He needed a sweetener to be convinced - even then, you could see he didn't want to cut the deal.

IMO Vlad was kept out of the loop when the big boys thrashed out the deal.

Vlad simply didn't know, hence he put his foot in it on radio.

While it may be that he was side lined but I just cant believe that when the afl was updated to the agreed deal that it wasn't brought up for discussion, if it was indeed clear he was going to get paid. I just cant believe they(afl admin) didn't know.

Maybe, but it would explain Vlad's faux pas on radio.. Not sure how else it could be explained TBH.
Makes sense considering Vlad's error re the Reid charges being dropped also

No conspiracy theorist here I can assure you.

The central figure in both the AFL & NRL seems to be Dank - and yet to the best of my knowledge ASADA are yet to speak to him. When do you think they will get around to it?

Wouldn't have thought either investigation should be concluded without at least attempting to garner his input. You?

These are government bureaucrats we are talking about here - excuse me if I am a little cynical.

Do you really think Dank will incriminate himself and tell the truth? Not a chance and he even has said he wont participate in any asada interview. They may call him out with fines per day but all he has to do is show and refuse to answer any questions.

I'll put on my consultant's hat and observe that someone with my expertise costs heaps as a conventional employee, and you'd want to have 365 days of work a year using it.

Otherwise you might consider that my hourly rate is a big number; but you don't have to give me a car, super, leave pay, an office, a computer, a telephone, a mobile, travel expenses, an admino, etc. etc. And when I'm finished the job you're not paying me to wait for the next job.

Though I must admit that there is another major advantage to consultants. They get paid, and they're gone. Nobody can be blamed, except the consultant who doesn't give a shit after the payment comes through.

Not that I'd suggest that as significant in the reported outcome. We professionally live and die on the quality of the work. The fact that it later becomes deniable by the department is a bonus.

From what I remember when this all came down, there was only about 5 FT investigators for the whole of ASADA and they weren't set up for a team investigation(or anyone else for that matter) and the gov looked at raising this. Not sure if that happened mind you.

It does but since he ahs been the point man for the AFL regarding all this saga I refuse to believe he wasn't given a detailed point by point explanation of what was agreed to. Something is not quite right here and for all we know the dons pulled a swifty(well done) and the afl couldn't do anything about it.

I was only just reading this interesting article on CJC

with its wonderful attribute of bioconjugation
and the thought occurred to me
is CJC approved for therapeutic use anywhere?

Irrelevant to this discussion. As a Growth Hormone Releasing Hormone, CJC-1295 is prohibited by WADA by Section 2, however the appendix to the ACC report at http://www.crimecommission.gov.au/publications/other-publications/appendix-one-overview-of-peptides states that CJC-1295 is not approved for human use.

What point are you trying to make?

I don't believe it is. While it technically falls under S0 however as it is a synthetic human growth hormone it is therefore banned under that clause. It is a specifically banned product (check your substances).

So basically, you have nothing to offer from a discussion based perspective.

Would that about cover it?
I've offered plenty, with links to back up my statements.

You've chosen to stick on the fence, not actually offer an opinion, instead baiting for responses, and laugh like an idiot when someone bites.

So my post again:

So you have a simple decision to make.

If you think your links are awesome, post them again. To what, I have no idea; make them relevant.

Be careful though; I've got serious backlog of 'actually' answering questions, derail this thread and I will argue with the mods that all I did was answer a troll with next to no knowledge....

whachootalkiboutwillis?

Oh I'm inviting all involved to retract the stance that the courts have never overturned a doping infraction...

Carlton are the only scum I know.

Believe it or not, when I first started discussing this topic, the guide I gave myself was 'Imagine if this was Carlton'.....

Before I delete the post for Bay 13 content. Let me say this much - when Carlton were done in 2002, we also copped a massive fine and loss of draft picks (and werent able to trade back into the draft for them either). The members then fired most of the board and the president was fired and had his name stripped from a grand stand at Princes Park (and is still officially persona non grata around the club). The players involved didnt last another year at the club either (one of whom still doesnt talk to the club much despite being a legend of the club and the son of a club legend). And we never threatened the league with court, even though we would almost certainly have won on trade restraint grounds.

If the membership found our club treating its players in an inadequately documented experimental enviroment, Id expect we'd be most displeased.

And so in short, we Carlton scum are the only team to have served the full terms of our punishment without running to the lawyers to save us from our AFL obligations in the last 15 years.

I would also suggest that your punishment was greater than the lettuce leaf that essendon were slapped with, both monetary and draft wise.

We tend to forget that essendon are serial offenders in afl rule breaches.

Go on then, explain to us how 900k is a bigger fine than 2m. Carlton were serial offenders and their cap penalties contained suspended sanctions.

I didn't realise the rate of inflation was well over 100% across the last decade.

You do realise each poor troll you make undermines comments made by people with genuine concerns about the topic?

really, what concerns other than getting out of this through a loophole do you cultists have?

Are you concerned that you cant sue the AFL? Age etc? OR are you concerned about the damage to the game the club you support has done?

Have you paid your levy for the Flight plan to fund Jimmys sabbatical?

And actually the rate of inflation is compounding that's why as a rule house double inprice every seven years to use them as an example.......as youre obviously not of house buying age I guess you may not have noticed. But in your defence IT equipment prices which are part of the CPI have actually dropped considerably. how much was bread in 2000? Has it more than doubled?

Just asking

Inflation Calculator

Value: $1,169,444.82

Annual Inflation: 2.41%
Total Inflation: 29.94%

Or there abouts.

I disagree jenny, The inflation rate is a product of the CPI in Australia , The government has in their CPI basket such commodites that are bought every day by consumers like TVs Computers and Cars and shoes (for the ladies) just to name a fewthe drops in those items outwiegh the rises in everyday items thus giving an artificially low CPI hence inflation rate.

Has bread and milk only risen 25 % since 2000? What about other foodstuff? Hell a big mac meal has nearly doubled in price from $4.95

Check with the Australian Bureau of Statistics its actually quite disturbing to read.

And how does say, the australian dollar, compare with itself of 2002? Is it more than double? That's the commodity we are talking about...
