How I feel when I notice a friend has a few different Port pens that I don't have.

2-3 years ago, If someone said we would be heading towards 50k I would have checked them into a loony bin
I always thought we would have good membership numbers if we played at adelaide

44,582 according to the scoreboard.

And that was when I turned up for the first game(about 10.00). There were membership booths out there, it wasn't standing room only but there was a steady drizzle of people signing up so I'd say we could be 44,700 now. 45,000 looks done and dusted.

Yeh that total was up on the scoreboard quite early this morning Mic - I think it'd be more than 44,700 now because I was in the Port Club at 10-25am this morning waiting for matrix and '54 to arrive and sat at one of the dining tables nearest to the entrance where the membership counter is on one side and the Power Megastore is on the other side and for the next 25 minutes (matrix and '54 were late) I observed a steady stream of people coming and going at 2 queues at that counter as the club had 2 membership staff working there and at times I counted at least a dozen or more people - it wouldn't surprise me if we hit 45,000 today.:)

Shit... lets hope Monday morning, we announce 45,000. Would be an amazing effort, considering last season it was a few rounds in when we cracked 40k. A good win against Carlton, backed up with a showdown win might mean 50k by rnd 5?

It was mid to late June that we got to 40,000 members last year.

Na, not too many signed up today... only about 80 odd new members up until the last qtr of the Power game.

I guess a few more could have signed up post match, so somewhere just under 100 today would be my guess!!

I agree. Let's be honest pretty much anyone keen enough to attend a pre-season trial game is already signed up.

On a whim I upgraded to Club 1870 today and the famous Ben gave me a free Quinn stand upgrade. Sure that was a $5 value but it was a nice gesture. :)

Will be far more than that imo.

Ben is the one that replied to my email concerning my seats. I told him to get up here so I could boof him.

Well done. Benny is a great bloke and always looks after members. Had a good chat to him after the game as he wasn't at the launch last night and he said "I have it in my head we will get to 50,000 ."

Godspeed, Sweet Benjamin.

I stood in front of the membership tent @ the Scott building all day and there was probably 5 people that signed up total.

There were big queues intermittently at the Port Club desk, but I think a lot of them were just paying $5 for a seat in the shade.

1502 11-game reserved seats left in the outer, with only 52 BD seats left.

If I was a person thinking of signing up yesterday I can guarantee I'd have been doing it inside at the entrance desk.

I'm amused that Crows fans think that there will be 9000 tickets available to them for the Showdown because our membership is at 44,500. Maths has never been their strong suit, because they fail to take into account that the 8000 SMA members are already guaranteed their tickets - meaning if EVERYONE wanted a ticket who was a Port supporter (and let's face facts...why wouldn't you go?) there would only be 1000 tickets left.

44,500 + 8000 = 52,500.

Is it possible that SMA membership is like the old SANFL Cat 1 membership? ie. Counts for both clubs?

ps. I'm not defending them, just bring it up as a possibility.
