Chronic hamstring injuries. Where have you been?
So he's being hidden in the forward line until retirement?

I've been at work. Sound scary?

He's playing in the forward line yeah. Really that's where he's at his most dangerous. it's unfortunate that his hamstrings are not allowing him to play midfield, but he's brilliant wherever you put him.

What's Cyril supposed to achieve anyway? He has Two Premierships and an AA from what I remember. He is 24 and has plenty of time to do whatever else that he needs to do achieve more. Cat supporters are getting a bit cocky just because he had a quiet game against them but you never know what will happen when it matters ye?

Who is the best small forward of the last 25 years?
Well a forwards job is to kick goals so lets look at who has averaged more than 1.3 goals over their career shall we?

Starting with Motlop - 1.4

Oh noes, Thyrils' already been dumped by the first entry.:thumbsu:

Milne - 2.1
Ballantyne - 1.5
Walters - 1.9
Betts - 1.6
Lecras 2.3
Chappy - 1.4

And the list goes on and on. Or were you judging being the best small forward in the last 25 years just on 'pressure acts'…?

that's funny, 5 of the six have never won a flag:cool:

Played 23 of a possible 26 games in what was supposed to be his "breakout" year in the midfield - 2012 - and only averaged 15 possies.
Pretty low I'd think you'd agree for a midfielder.

That's funny, Cyril has never won a flag by himself either. ;)

And why do you have an extra 'L' in your username, bro?

Give all the other stats. Possessions. Assists. Tackles. 1%'s. Pressure acts. Give me everything.

Or alternatively we accept that Milne is 50% better than Motlop

Hate agreeing with a Hawk but I have to. The role of the small forward is no longer to purely kick goals, it's about goal assists, pressure acts, tackles, and if you're really good pushing up the ground and providing link and run. All things Steven Motlop does far better than Cyril Rioli.

Didn't say it was his only job but it's quite damning when being touted as the best of the last 25 years wouldn't you say?

I've just given you a quick list of 7 blokes who are outscoring him as small forwards. Surely it should be quite more decisive in Thyrils favour if you're talking him up as the best of the last quarter century, yeah?

AFL 360 had a stat up about Rioli tied 2nd for score assists over the last 4-5 years.. Rioli is a creator and a finisher..

There is a long list of small forwards who have all been "better than Rioli" over the last 5 years most of disappeared into obscurity... meanwhile Rioli is still the benchmark.

Strange, never heard of a "benchmark" being tied for 2nd before...

It's flogs like you that made him the benchmark, comparing him with Stokes when he was a small forward. Comparing him with Varchoke, comparing him with Motlop... meanwhile Carlton supporters were comparing Garlett & Betts with Rioli. Swans, Jetta... Freo Ballaz / Walters, etc etc..

Actually I've never thought of Riolololi as a "benchmark" in any sense of the word. Quite the opposite in fact and I'm well documented on those thoughts.

Where did I say he was the best of the last quarter century? That sort of reverence is reserved for frontrunners like Milne and Motlop. I just asked who might be in the equation.

I didn't say it in that gif  Where did I say it?
Ok, if that isn't what you were insinuating then tell me who you think is the best small forward of the last 25 years.

I don't deal in insinuation. I was merely asking a question and I was hoping wise people like yourself, armed with nothing more than goal averages, could set my inquisitive mind to rest.
