Awesome, two new directors without footy experience.

Their experience and skills look okay at a glance but man these specialist appointments irritate me. Just makes you wonder where their allegiances lie.

No mention of Springfield by Sharpless in that email as the Heads of Agreement Deadline looms large. Great engagement and communciation. Clearly took the feedback regarding transparency from The Lion's Roar survey on board.

One is a specialist appointment. The other's to fill in a vacancy.

The PwC guy has been on board since the Bears days, and the other doesn't mention the Lions at all in the cv, so I suspect the specialist appointment was required to get her on, her not being a member for 2 years.

I hope she is a marketing whiz, we could use a good boost in that department. Still lacks proven performance in an AFL background. But i guess that won't matter too much once Swann is announced in 4 weeks or so. It was nice to see an update about the CEO search by Bob, they found some names and will soon advertise (which gives great confidence into the names they have so far identified). Interviews in a few weeks after that. Or in other words, board will run this whole process so it times perfectly with Swann finishing at Carlton just in time for him to be considered for the job and the AFL dangle a juicy carrot if we take him on board over the other people we find. Sounds about right to keep the general public happy that the club has been a 'big boy' and done it's own process to find and secure a top line new CEO. Bob can claim credit and step aside at the end of the year ego and image intact.

When was the last time the members voted for a board appointment? ( I think Leigh was technically a board appointment). I'd like somebody representing us other than Leigh that can kick a goal from 50 metres, MBA's can't.

How many other clubs have multiple former players on their boards?

My understanding is that there are consistently fewer and fewer former players on club boards.

St Kilda have Nathan Burke and Andrew Thompson on their board. That's the only one I can think of.

EDIT: Oh, and Carlton for the moment, with Kernahan and Gleeson.

Essendon too. So maybe quite a few.

And now I think about, Matthews isn't even a former Brisbane player. I can't think of any clubs that have former coaches on the board.

Without looking at the individuals or politics, if I had to pick two areas of expertise that we most desperately needed to bolster on the Lions board, it'd be marketing and finance.

Don't we have a marketing department?

Does not seem to be any Springfield connections so im happy to give benefit of the doubt. They certainly are areas of need, and certainly seem qualified. Marketing especially will be interesting to monitor. Its something we need to do better with, communication in general really.

Board changes jumper to appeal to younger market.
Board ignores 4 years of complaints.
Board concedes issue in lead up to EGM.
New board appoints marketing expert.

Cause dats how we roll.
