Can run, can tackle, shows aggression and intent to get and dispose the footy, while continuing movement flowing forward from the defensive half. I didn't see much of that last night.

Agree but curious when we starting selecting players based on deserving a game.

Not sure that Warren has done much more than Hine ...

I'll back the blokes who have actually watched Warren and Hine play every week.

Just because no one on here was watching Warren doesn't mean he didn't deserve his spot.

Both Warren and Hine are lockdown players who don't get much of the ball. Warren was doing good jobs in the VFL and is a better kick than Hine. Seems straight forward to me.

Another win to the Bees, anybody make it to the game or have any stats?

As the grey tears of the sky fell on a blue and white heart still bleeding from events the previous evening, your faithful correspondent reports:

A ripping game in the mud and slush, and a great credit to Coburg, without a single AFL player (or even ex-player) among them.

Majak was quiet, did his share in the ruck, and gave a target up front, but couldn't take a mark all day - fair enough perhaps in the conditions, but he also ran under it consistently

Jarrod Moore BOG for the Bees, and perhaps inevitably, given the conditions suited him to a tee. Likewise McGenniss was good in the clinches, scrapping for everything. Loose and Wright were complete professionals down back, spoiling whenever possible and just getting forward whenever opportunity presented. Likewise Taylor Hine, who fought for everything.

Kieran Harper was good when in the centre set-ups, and less so when playing on the wing - for whatever reason, he goes alright in the contest in the middle, but seems to wait outside the contest for the ball when playing up forward. With the game on the line in the last quarter, he worked like a Trojan in the middle - stats won't say everything in this game, and Kieran put his head over it and had a crack when it mattered.

Kayne Turner was a terrier up forward, harassing ball and man for all he was worth, and got the reward with a set shot goal from a free for in the back.

When playing as a lead-up forward, Mason Wood didn't offer much, but was a revelation when he played on a wing from the second quarter on. Knows where to go at the boundary throw ins, and had a colossal last quarter, taking just about the only contested grabs Werribee managed all day, including one on centre wing when the Bees were absolutely under siege and seemingly unable to clear their lines to save themselves.

And for those pining for unrequited draft picks, Brayden Norris played on half forward and was alright, converting from a mark set up by Wood in the third quarter, and generally showing a bit. Still very lightly framed across the shoulders, which no doubt contribute to his undoing when at North.

And finally, John Lamont goes alright as a senior coach - gave a ripper speech at 3 qtr time

happy to take questions

I haven't read any of the post game threads but has anyone mentioned that Warren shut out Sam Mayes all night?

My point earlier was about senior players not being deserving of games and still getting them, nothing to do with Warren or Hine.

But if you want to discuss those two, both of them are average and probably only 10 weeks away from looking for a new club, which won't be at AFL level.

Did Wood have limited game time to have him ready for Friday night?

I did.

Couldn't believe the bagging of the block for getting 1 touch.

Mayes 10 touches and no goals. Warren was one of a few who beat his man last night. And Mayes is a good player.

Posters complain about Atley not manning up and beg that we pick up Nick Smith. Warren does a job like Smith (not saying he is as good or will be) but gets one touch and posters still complain.

Last nights effort deserved lots of complains but Warren didn't.

100% Agree!

But people only look at the stats sheet and see 1 kick and the bagging commences.

I said it yesterday that 1 kick game was a million times better than the shit served up by McKenzie, who had 4 kicks, but his opponents ran riot.
