Nothing better than that. AO is the only crowd that goes for the underdog.

They just got louder when Fed lead 5-2 in the last set.

The French isn't too bad either, I just hate the Wimbledon and US fanboy commentating, they are both as shocking as one another.

The only thing I have against the AO is when fans just cheer on players for the sake of pissing off the other player. Like when they went for Stan because they knew Novak hated it.

Can't stand Wawrinka as I have no idea what I'll get. I am not Novak's biggest fan but if Rafa can't win I rather Novak win. The only thing that I hate about Novak is him gifting 2 Slams to that pusher Murray!

Lol yeah. That Wimbledon final was a dead give away. Novak was just like "Here you go..." before the first ball was even hit.

Gotta love the Federer fan boys in full force on Facebook. Absolute imbeciles.

The US Open was even worse, started absolutely clowning around from the start. Should have won easily and in the end flopped. The Wimbledon one was a dead set shocker!

I sort of hope he makes the final only to be schooled by Novak!

every fan boy is an imbecile with their extreme bias, stupid statements and irrational chain of thought.

they wouldnt be fans otherwise.
Most of the fans on Facebook are 10x worse than those on these kinds of tennis boards. Their defence is basically "Nadal > Federer H2H" "Federer > Nadal 17 grandslams" :p

I'm just happy that Rafa stopped him getting a calendar Slam!

Do you think Nadal or Novak could do it next year? Novak seems to have got the monkey off the back, will be the red hot favourite at the AO...and is only one Rafa injury away from winning the French.

I find the astonishment and anger from people at Federer when he's playing poorly slightly bemusing. He's 33yrs old in a game that is dominated by supreme movers. Of course he's going to have an off game every now and then. The fact that he still regularly makes it to the quarters, semis and finals is astounding.

Credit where credit is due, he's still in the top 5 players in the world at 33yrs of age and although he might not be as consistant as he once was, which is entirely understandable at 33yrs of age and with a plethora of kids, he can still play some great tennis

Djokovic's wife yet to give birth, so who knows how he'll play when he becomes a father. Really don't think anyone's gonna do it.

If anything I recon he will play better, wanting to win a few more before retiring. Do feel Novak is the best chance as he doesn't have to spend that much energy winning Wimbledon/US/Aus. Unlike Rafa whose game isn't suited. For Rafa to win any of those 3 he has to spend so much energy and thus he cops injuries. Rafa's best chance is to reduce his clay season in half. Novak did that this year.

it requires so much luck to do it. there will always be a player who is untouchable hot(Stan the Man for example) that you cant do anything about it. of course they could do it, but highly doubtful it will happen.

Wawrinka won't do that again and just watch him draw fed and collapse. I agree, you need luck. But he only needs luck in 1 of the Slams. The other 3 he will be the dead set $2.50 favourite. Novak has had the toughest draw of all players in this US Open and has breezed through to the SF.

The field is too strong these days. Makes winning a calendar slam almost impossible. The top guys are prone to upsets now, unlike a few years ago when they were simply unbeatable. Guys like Raonic, Nishikori, Robredo, Monfils, Tsonga etc are probably playing the best tennis of their lives.

The only one that will trouble Novak in that bunch is a Berdych type and that is if he doesn't collapse. He isn't losing sets to Raonic, Monfils and the others. Tsonga is French, he won't do much.

Novak's year next year could be the one, that said needs luck at the FO.

Most of us would run out of superlatives to describe his performances across the years, no doubt the best of the best. But his off-court behaviour, in particular his interviews, is what annoys the heck out of me. I can list examples, but I really don't want to be attacked by people on here. I prefer to keep it clean.

Agreed, the so called Mr Nice Guy, lets just say everyone knows why they changed the practice courts at the Australian Open.

From what I've seen it's the Raonic/Cilic/Isner types that have troubled him the most. The guys that can roast a serve consistently throughout the match. Novak's weakness is his head when he can't dominate his opponent. He's dealt with Berdych well enough I think.

He is a nice guy. Can't fault his charity work and all the other work he's done over the years.

Just think there have been plenty of moments where he's gotten away with the things he's said because he's the "GOAT".

Other way. Novak's weakness is players that can beat or match him in a grind- in reality Rafa and Federer (3-4 years ago). Novak finds a way against serve bots. His serve is good enough and Raonic is rubbish moving around. That is why Kyrios has a massive future, of all serve bots his movement is the best (can still improve). Nisikori won't win but those type of players will frustrate the heck out of Novak. Also serve volleyers he hates.

He is but I won't forgive him for complaining to the AO about the spectators after practice...it was all of 2 minutes! Rafa loved it!

I think Novak's overcome that lately. I remember against Rafa in 2010, it was at the start of the match when he let out a massive scream, only because he was getting outplayed from the baseline. But lately it's the 'perfectionist' inside that has gotten the better of him. He bases 70% of his game on getting a good, solid return in play. When he does that consistently, he's almost unbeatable. Against the likes of Raonic, he kicks himself for missing a second serve return or an easy first serve return. Then when he actually makes a solid return and stuffs up in a rally, he really goes nuts.

I just can't stand the things he says off-court. Calling players' shots "lucky", calling out the serve bots the day before he fired down a tonne of aces, sitting back at ATP council meetings after being told off by players to join in on the discussion.

Davydenko on Federer: “I don’t know why Roger is not supporting the players,” Davydenko said at the start of the week. “Because he don’t want any problems. He’s a nice guy. He’s winning grand slams. He’s from Switzerland. He’s perfect. He don’t want to do anything, he is just trying to be an outsider from this one.”

Fed's reaction after Beck pulled out of their match: “He doesn’t want to risk it early in the season, best of five sets, against me,” Federer said. “Nothing he could have done, even though he would love to play against me.”

Fed's reaction to Djokovic beating him at the US Open in 2011:
"Some players grow up and play like that. I remember losing junior matches and being down 5-2 in the third and they start slapping shots and they all go in for some reason. That's the way they grew up playing when they were down. I never play that way. I believe hard work's going to pay off. [...] So for me this is very hard for me to understand how you can play a shot like that on match point. But maybe he's been doing it for 20 years. Maybe for him it's very normal. You'll have to ask him."

These are just of the examples... but when Djokovic says something like "I love Nutella with Banana bread" the whole world thinks he's nuts.

Yes but it is the serve bots with movement that trouble him. Raonic is a lug, he just serves and does diddly squat, Novak takes it to a tie breaker and wins straight. won't beat Novak over 5 sets with just a serve. Someone like Stepanek always troubles Novak as when he has to hit a lot of passing shots under pressure he struggles. Federer should do this against Novak- it is his only chance, he won't beat Novak from the baseline.

Never agree with the lucky part- you are not 'lucky' to win a 5 setter in a Grand Slam, you have been outplayed. He said a similar thing when Marat Safin beat him at the Australian Open!
