Mitch Clark Return..

Happy with that response, now we just need a "Tyrone who?" and a "Shawn Mcwho?" And we'll be all set for this summer.

Maybe Ross was being clear on which Mitch? There seems to be two Mitch's being offered for trade.

Perhaps he's final going to right a wrong and final draft Robinson to Freo. Might bring back Memories too.

Why he show us f.all? He wanted to come to this club and be paid more than Pav!! We offered him overs of what he was worth with the view of stability in a good club pushing into a premiership window. Melbourne offered a lot more as a basket case club. He followed the dough, he made his bed.
I think the point purplefrog was making was that if we were in ANY way still interested in acquiring Mitch's services over this summer, that we would've shown him a little more respect in today's interview. The mood of the answer was one that says we're not interested in pursuing him further.

Ross in his live pre-final presser (paraphrased, I'm not a dictaphone):

Journo - After the season ends, will you be interested in talking to Mitch Clark
RTB - Who?
Journo - Mitch Clark
RTB - Oh yeah. A young man who had the opportunity to come to our club and didn't take it.

Ouch.

Ross doesnt pussy foot around does he ,calls a spade a spade
You would not want to get on the wrong side of him;)

Love your club but Lyons response was pathetic.
He clearly doesn't understand or give a rats about how his response could be taken.
Still shows there is a massive difference between "knowing about" mental health issues like depression and someone understanding it or at least showing genuine sympathy.
When has football ever been more important than a persons health.
I don't think he was calling a spade a spade...I think it was a thinly veiled dig at Mitch.
Pathetic.

+ the fact he is even able to consider coming back should be celebrated.
Myself and a few friends who have played SANFL have been smacked by depression and anxiety but fought hard to get back to full health.
Good on you Mitch.

I would say he paid the question the respect it deserves, given that the club's single mindset at the moment is that of focussing on the next game, these comments could hardly be construed as "not giving a rats" about his mental state.

"I understand that he's not a very well young man, that's what I know.

"From me at the minute, I'm a bit confused by it all. On the outside, it's a very serious issue. He seems like not a well man and mental health is clearly the issue.

"So, I feel pretty uncomfortable talking about it at the minute."

The "Mitch.. What's his name?" would be just as much of a dig at the journalist looking elsewhere than anything else, but also gave an indication of our interest in drafting Mitch.

fair points but not convinced.

sorry to hear about your battle but when does he say that football is more important than a person's health. just 24 hours ago he says that he has a duty of care to ballantyne and his family.

Yeah, absolutely. The "Mitch Who?" comment I'm convinced was aimed at the Journo. If you hear the full interview it really comes out of left field given the focus of the day is training and prep for a cut-throat final. However, I can fully see how it wouldn't be taken as a personal dig at Clark, especially with the follow-up comments. Maybe Ross could have used more tact, but his mind is really on bigger things right now and certainly in no way did I hear a personal dig at his condition. I've had to deal with psychological issues in my family and close friends of the most invasive kind (depression being the least of the issues). I did not hear a dig at that at all. People hearing that are just making shit up AFAIC.

He may have his issues, but you still need to be responsible for your choices and actions. He chose Melbourne $$ when we were keen and ready to bring him into the fold, that's fine, he made his choice. We're completely entitled to hold him to account for that decision (so to speak) and that has nothing to do with depression or any other issue he may have.

fair points but not convinced.
Who cares if you're convinced?

Ross gave him a whack that he deserved. If he had come to Fremantle, his career would have been very different.

He was shitty at the journo mate. We're preparing for a semi-final and wanting to talk about the upcoming game, and they come in speculating about post-season pick-ups in a manner that they well know Ross will have no bar of.

Yeah rude from the journalist. Talking about trades when the season is not over, smacks of arrogance that he doesn't rate Freo to have a chance.

Did you read the full interview?

Ross:

"I understand that he's not a very well young man, that's what I know.

"From me at the minute, I'm a bit confused by it all. On the outside, it's a very serious issue. He seems like not a well man and mental health is clearly the issue."

"So, I feel pretty uncomfortable talking about it at the minute."

Sounds to me like he's not critical of Clark and doesn't want to get into a debate about it because of the issues surrounding it.

Agree 100%... Perhaps Mitch's manager should listen to the full interview too

Very glad with what Ross said today.

Goes with what I said earlier about burning your bridges.

There was never any chance decent people would look at him again for the amount of time he wasted with them.

It was tongue in cheek, but what would you say instead?

Yes i could see you were having a laugh. I just think to call someone who is suffering/suffered from depression as not normal is not right. Just my opinion as i know poitical correctness can have a tendency to go mad these days.

He kicked at better a goal a game for 2 years. Hes far more likely than Gumby was. Though I'm tired of these sort of faces coming in. Though Defiantly a better prospect than Gumby.

2011 Games- 17 Goals- 27
2012 Games- 11 Goals- 29

My understanding on depression is that often a change in scenery can be all the difference. Like he will fully come out of it maybe at a new club.

Ross has poopooed it so it aint going to happen, Better than Lumumba and Gumby at football though.
