His legal moves have only upset those who already want to see him gone, and are frustrated that he is still coach.
As for shitting on the people who've defended him the whole time, you're kidding. He is defending his character, which has been maligned by an investigation that was corrupt from the beginning, and targeted him as the prime scapegoat. He wants to remove any legality or legitimacy that investigation had, and maybe, consequently, remove the stain on his reputation resulting from the charge and suspension that flowed from it.
Good luck to him. I would love him to succeed and I hope he does. And if he doesn't, he has done no harm, absolutely no harm, to anyone who has supported him.
If you are going to say he has delayed the outcome for the players (and supporters), take a look at what is really delaying it - ASADA. Full stop. They could have, and should have, finished this in mid 2013.
If Hird is successful, and ASADA start a whole new investigation (which is extremely unlikely), then we will get a result (eventually) from an investigation that is legal and fair (or at least, fairer than the original one), and replace the interim report and the AFL's BTGID charges with something that gives a fairer (hopefully) version of Hird's responsibility.
He is fully entitled to pursue this for as long as he wants to, and via every avenue at his disposal.
He was forced to be the patsy in Aug 2013, and it provided no benefit to the club or the players, or the supporters, at all. Now he is entitled to do what he can to rectify that."
