That's worse than the link I put up, thegerman. Having a car knocked off is minor compared to injuries like that.

It's extremely sad that incidents like that make people think twice about helping others. And it's no wonder that there are people driving past broken down cars on the side of the road every day- unless you're 6'4" and have a black belt in karate, you might be thinking twice about getting involved.
When I lived in the goldfields over here, I stopped to help 3 aboriginal women and a scruffy-looking white guy stranded by the side of the road.
It was on the Kalgoorlie-Menzies road. Not a real lot of traffic but there would be a car maybe every 5-10 minutes.
The bloke asked if I had a wheel brace, which I dug out and handed him, then the women and I chatted while he changed his tyre.
When I mentioned it to my hubby at the end of the day, he told me that I shouldn't have stopped- it was in the days of Ivan Milat and there'd also been several assaults and murders of hitchhikers along the Nullarboor and other country roads. Not being a watcher or reader of TV news or newspapers, I was blissfully unaware of all this. If I'd known about all that, maybe I would've left it to a big truckie to look after them.
Several years before, I'd been wandering through a remote location about 5kms away from our camp, doing some mapping. As I was leaving to make the trek home (I was walking), along the old dirty bumpy track came a car full of aborigines who stopped to see if I needed any help. When I assured them that I was OK and told them what I was doing, they pulled out a beer and handed it to me.
Sigh... those were the days, my friend!!
I have had this girl- remember these are kids with learning disabilities and are in this special maths program- fail her 5 times tables week after week- 3 weeks in a row to be exact. Somehow finally what I have been saying to her has made sense, and she got them today.
I almost had tears in my eyes.

I misunderstood- you replied to Jub's post containing a gif and mentioned a gif so I assumed you were talking about the gif in his post and I wondered why on earth you'd ask about him posting a gif when he already had and, because it didn't load when I looked at his post but it DID load when I read his post quoted in your reply, I decided to let you know that I was having trouble seeing the gif in the original post, too.

Wasn't that gorgeous that they gave you a beer! It's very hard to know what to do, isn't it? Most of us are helpful by nature, but with all the stories about rally bad stuff, you can't risk your safety! Such a shame!That's worse than the link I put up, thegerman. Ignoring her, I checked him, with her still banging on not to get involved. Well, he didn't react when I spoke, I nudged his leg, which was stiff. So then the neighbour became hysterical, too late I thought. I rang an ambulance, police came + he was pronounced dead. The police asked my neighbour why she didn't ring an ambulance when she saw him in the morning + she banged on again about druggies. The ambo told her he might have been saved + she said 'What for?'

A few years ago on a Good Friday about 3pm, a neighbour + I were talking, she said there was a guy in the lane with a needle hanging out of his arm + he was sleeping, said he was like that in the morning too. When I went to check she told me not to waste my time with a junkie. When I said he might die, she said good - one less strain on Medicare
Of course the next week, she made herself the centre of the drama + her story changed dramatically lol She made herself the hero
