Now that our season is effectively over what is it that you hope West Coast get out of the 2015 season?
Is it to blood more young midfielders like Duggan and Waterman in the Seniors?
Is it for somebody like Barrass to play 12+ games and occasionally have a good game where a super forward doesn't take him to the cleaners?
Is it for Naitanui to continue to dominate for the rest of the year and get another AA?
Is it for Newman to be upgraded and break into the 22 squad?
Or is it something else. Right about now I think we could all do to concentrate on future positives rather than dwell on our current predicament.

What composition are you envisaging?
The midfield must be made our number 1 priority and our best players should be used there.

Immediately:
In: Yeo, Duggan
Out: Selwood, Masten

Selwood can play back and Masten can play WAFL. Masten is a total waste of space. He can't tackle or withstand a tackle.

I'd also tell Shuey that if he continues to make drawing a free kick his first priority, he'll be next. He continually burns handball options in an effort to turn into the tackler hoping to draw a free. It's killing us. He's a better player than that and the opposition players and umpires have latched onto it.

LeCras should spend at least half his game time in the middle. He's evasive, has good vision and can kick. If that costs us a bit of fowardline potency, so be it.

As the season progresses, I'd like to see Maginness be given every opportunity to earn a spot. Last year McGinnity was selected over Maginess, when Maginness was playing very well in the WAFL. This stupidity must end.

Duggan, Nelson, Lamb, Waterman, Newman getting more game time.

McGovern making the AA team and becoming a top 25 player in the AFL.

These are the only two things I'm looking forward to this year.

There's positives in having season over in round 1 and having developed a low care factor about this shit-nothing side.

I'll definately be chasing a lot more winter swell this season, for example.

I hope not a lot changes - by that I mean I hope that whatever plans Simpson and the coaching staff had in place for the season in terms of player development, positional changes, tactical changes etc. remain basically the same with some obvious tweaks needed down back.

I think there can be harm in playing a bunch of underdone kids who aren't ready, I don't think you play the kids just for the sake of it, but maybe give them a few more games than you normally would if the season really falls away.

You still have to aim for the goals set at the start of the year (finals) and use that as motivation for the playing group and as the key focus for the year.
Any over reactions by the coaching staff to one loss and our injuries would be seen as poor coaching, you've really just got to train, plan and build as usual.

So really, the positives I want to see for the year remain largely the same as any year, development of young players, seeing the implementation of the gameplan by the players and hopefully having confidence that it is a game style that will see us premiership bound in the not too distant future. Also hoping to see a plan B for when the opposition gets a run on and being able to restrict the opposition as much as possible.

Wanting to see our mids step up from B grade to A (Shuey, Gaff, Selwood, Naitanui etc.).

Just want our midfield addressed seriously by injecting youth even if it is on a rotational basis for 3or 4 games at a time. Given that some say they aren't ready. Try "resting" priddis to get a look at the future for a couple of games.
Also hoping nn gets back to AA form. Watching him is as good as Judd and cousins when he is at his best.

  • Newman best 22 by at least the middle of the year
  • Yeo building on his midfield apprenticeship, even if it is only in patches. I do agree he is needed down back for the most part in 2015.
  • Duggan and Waterman to debut (I think either should be in front of Sheed currently)
  • Selwood's ball use isn't good enough to play in the defensive half. He should be used as a defensive mid.
  • Masten to either improve (2013 form) or be shown the door when he is not performing.
  • Karpany & Sheed to show signs of improvement
  • Maginness to get on the field some time in 2015 and continue to show promise for EP, as we need players with genuine outside speed.
  • Jordan Matera to have a breakout season for Sandringham ;)

we now have no pressure of expectation. we can be honest and help some good kids develop. NN will explode after a good season uninjured.

We can expose masten as a wimp and let him run out for the royals.

There are advantages to a smaller back line that we can explore. There are already good signs that Simmo is teaching the team to counter attack very well.

  • Yeo to the midfield for the second half of the year
  • Waterman and Duggan to debut and play 5-10 games each in the seniors
  • Newman/Cripps combo in the forward line
  • I want to see Adamson put his hand up to be upgraded next year

My positives for Season 2015
  1. I didn't renew my seated membership and saved myself $1400
  2. I now have actually have a proper weekend when the game is at home
    1. This is because it would take 1hr 15mins to get to Subi
    2. Then 20 mins to find a parking spot
    3. Then 20 mins to walk
    4. Then 30 mins to actually get in to watch rubbish football
    5. Rinse and repeat in reverse
  3. I can walk out on the TV
    1. I had too much invested in actually getting to the game to leave early
  4. Not sitting next to people that would give you death stares if you actually barracked for the team (and god forbid criticized Priddis)
  5. Having a Judy sit next to me in seats that were built for 10 year olds (you know Judy, heavy-duty!)
  6. I never ate the food for fear of, well becoming Judy
  7. Getting pissed off driving home after every game thinking what else I could have done with my $128

ahh, that's better....

-I would like to see us beating a top side like hawthorn or Sydney even if it is just pulling it out of our ass.
- possibly win a derby
- AA for Gov

Well, he is off to a good start by getting 10/10 for coach's votes from the bullies game. Fantastic effort.

A possible positive I can see for us this year us is kind of what happened to hawthorn last year. Their list gets decimated with injuries, players like Langford and Brad Hill who were on the fringes of the side but not crucial players develop into integral parts of the 22. Clarkson didn't lose his head and alter the gameplan based on any personell differences, he stuck with the teams direction and when the good players came back hawthorn were the strongest side in the afl.

Their key players came back in time for the end of the season unlike ours and im aware our list isn't hawthorn's but then again we were never gonna challenge for a premiership this year even with a healthy list. Hopefully Simmo (Clarksons apprentice) can continue with the positive direction I think he's taking the team in and unearth the potential within existing players on our list that may not have been discovered without being granted a chance through injuries to proven performers. Then perhaps in 2016 we'll have 30 players worthy of being best 22 rather than the 25 or so we've got now. Clarkson just said in an interview on the afl website about sore players (Mitchell and shiels) "if they're not fit we'll just replace them with someone else". I'd love for us to get to that stage, and then if brown were to go down next season it would'nt be '2016 over' we'd just replace him with mcinnes or Powell and be confident in them performing simmos gameplan.
