That is absolutely terrible.

Outside Bruce, Billings and McCartin I see no A graders/potential A graders.

Compared to our top 3 in the coaches votes in Wallis, Stringer and Bont. St Kilda fans are kidding themselves!

2012 was a bad off season for the saints. Traded picks 12 & 13 for Lee, Hickey & scraps.

Billings isn't good enough for their top 10 BnF, so can only be in conversation for a B grade player. Way too inconsistent.
McCartin hasn't played, so is about as advanced as Boyd, therefore either, neither or both could be A grade.
Is there anyone else in the youth, as aside from Bruce (who is still growing as a player) that could be A-Grade? That Cupboard is looking bare.

Ohh it was terrible list management. Lee should be delisted and saints fans want Hickey as trade bait.

If i had to make a top 12 list of young players from St Kilda and us combined (23 and under so that it includes Dahlhaus/Bruce etc) it would probably go in terms of talent/output so far.

Stringer, Bontempelli, Liberatore, Bruce, Dahlhaus, Macrae, McCartin, Billings, Wallis, Hunter, JJ/Newnes

Thats 8 to 4 to us and the evidence backs it up too.

Under 23 All Australian nominations

WB (3) Stringer, Dahlhaus, Liberatore - All been 23 or under to recieve a nom vs STK (0)

Best first year player as voted by the players WB (1) vs Stk (0)

Under 23 players who have been at some stage in the top 20 champion data rankings

once again WB (2) Liberatore and Bontempelli vs Stk (you guessed it - 0 again)

Top 5 coleman finishes WB (1) vs Stk (once again 0)

Weight of numbers do not lie.

Billings only played 9 games this year.

It wouldn't surprise me if he does become an A grader honestly. He has the talent.

Harsh on Billings he is a good player and should be an A grader. Probably be around Dal Santo good where Bont could be Judd/Fyfe/Ablett level - well he certainly is tracking that way.

Not many teams would rate a B losing to Melbourne, St Kilda and Brisbane
and winning 11 out of 14 at the one ground, glass half full Badger.
Honeychurch for president, viva el presidente.
Give us a spell. How about teams who beat every team bar 3 and played 11-14 <50 gamers a week.
It's all in the context. This was an A season especially if St Kilda's was a C+.

Macrae is so underrated.
Reckon he will win a brownlow one day and everyone be like "serious? he had a crap yet" *then proceed to check stats "ooo"

Yup should have easily been in. This is what happens when you let fans vote on the awards. Its like Mark and Goal of the year, just a popularity contest.

It's also how a freakshow with an incredible highlights reel gets the captains gig.

Like Priddis? The way he was treated by the media and others was an absolute disgrace. Just because he isnt your flashy Ablett and Judd types always in the media. Give us a spell

I hate ratings and stupid justifications, Immortalmike to be honest. I probably
did not express my point well, but one mans 14 wins is another mans, but
you can only play at Etihad out of the elements. I would be happy to come
on here and say well we were beaten by a better side on Saturday night,
but we were not.

I thought the media was nice about it. They were like "yeah when you think about it, he's actually really good"

My response was more "this is what's wrong with the Brownlow" because he is in no way the best player in the game. This year I've been much more impressed however, still far from the best in the game, but you can't fault mammoth contribution

Not sure elements had anything whatsoever to do with that loss, conditions were perfect.

Yeah you are right, the point i was trying to make was no matter how
good our season is perceived (and it was great) there will always be
someone who says take you away from Etihad and your not a top
eight side.

Don't think it's been posted here yet, but here is the Age's Season Review:

http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/western-bulldogs-season-review-for-2015-20150915-gjmxpb.html

If anyone other than WCE or, if they are unsuccessful, the Premiers get's an A - then the author of this deserves a summary execution....
The grade was B only because we lost on Saturday night in a game which by any definition we were very stiff to lose. I suspect had we won on Saturday that grade becomes an A-.

Having said that, it is a bit ridiculous for the author to make their decisions on this basis rather than taking into account expectations vs outcomes. Secondly, the comment that we lived by the sword and "certainly died by the sword" in terms of our fast pace of play is a bit simplistic. We died in the end because of poor kicking for goal and a bit of a lack of composure. Yes Adelaide opened us up at times but we also had them locked in our forward line for a good portion of the third quarter only to squander opportunity after opportunity. If we had kicked those goals would the author have written the same thing? I suspect not, but that sort of analysis is probably a bit beyond this reporter and the need for a short sharp take.

Given how much went right for us this year with so much growth in our young list and 5 nominations for All Australian, you would have thought a grade of better than B would have been earned but maybe B was for bad kicking for goal, because in the end that was how we died.

Truth is we were beaten by the better, more experienced side when it mattered. The same thing would've happened at Etihad.
We have to realise this and get over it.

Fair point immortalmike, i actually think our season ground to a hault about
a month ago when we were winning but only conceding 60 to 80 points in
games, lets face it it is a long year for such a young list.
