Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

This is actually getting enjoyable..like teaching a child.

We will use a real estate analogy again.

When selling a property, who sets the value of the property? The person coming into the house to buy..or the real estate agent, who has weighed in factors such as perceived value, demand, condition etc
If it's a Mortgagees auction and there ain't many bidders, the bank will just recover whatever it can. Seems Yarran must be sold, he won't be held on to. Unfortunately it seems like the Tigers are the only ones putting their hands up at auction.

:drunk:

Without trying to come across as arrogant, because I know that's how it looks. There's a reason why Richmond supporters have been so confident that we're not offering Carlton our first round pick and it's not to with other trades. Everything certain Richmond supporters have said has come true about Yarran, I wonder why that is?

So choose not to believe if you want, I encourage wearing tinfoil hats to fit the part.

What have they said about Yarran that has come true?

Nothing has happened for you to be gloating over something that's not occurred.

Tinfoil hats are linked to conspiracy nuts. As I've not mentioned any conspiracies I thought I'd point it out so you don't look silly in future conversations when using it out of turn.

We understand fully. Just as you have two choices, meet the asking price or don't get the player.

Thats all good by us, we aren't the one that has a disgrunted player on $450000 which could be playing VFL football next year. You need to clear up some salary cap and remember you are paying 100% cap for a wooden spoon side and you need to start fresh and need to clean up your house keeping first.

Market value has no meaning in AFL trades. When a player can and usually does nominate a single club, or even a subset of clubs, there is no market. Market value would only be applicable as a concept if you consider what the player would gather if he was willing to be traded to multiple clubs and ideally any of them. Trying to claim that whatever a club receives in return for a player is market value is rubbish.

Hooray. It took us a while, but finally someone got there.

This is probably the only truly accurate post in this thread...it's a shame it has been lost among page after page of complete and utter garbage.

It is amazing how so many people seem to struggle with a relatively simple concept to comprehend.

I was about to say that it is amazing that those who are almost exclusively using the term to justify their point of view clearly don't actually understand the concept....but then I remembered where I am and accepted it as par for the course.

Go read the thread on your own board, plenty has been said that's come true and plenty have been in denial when it was said, just like yourself.

All I've seen that's come true is what we already knew all along. The media told us Richmond were into him. After that nothing else has come out information wise to confirm anything.

*shrug*
Oh well :)

I get your rhetoric. But unless a sale happens you are only talking about best offer. Negotiations are not concluded, and the seller has not agreed. The buyer may indeed value the product higher but due to circumstances is only willing to offer a certain amount. This happened for Fremantle negotiating for Clark thinking they were the only buyer.
I'm not sure this necessarily contradicts what I've been saying.

Bad use of ellipsis buddy...

Cripps is the only truly elite player of those 4 names. Your drawing of comparisons needs a lot of work.
Elite?
He couldnt even beat a Melbourne foward in an award that has been dominated by midfielders...
Im out. This thread has turned to trash.

Nope, I'm simply bemused that the opinions of Tigers fans don't seem to match the appraisal of the rest of the football departments.

Your evidence for concluding that no one else has interest in him is... That you don't know otherwise? Solid logic. :drunk:

It's far more likely that Richmond have said to any potential suitors that he's off limits and we're currently working out a deal.

Very simple have preached it many times, if proposed offers are ridiculous, then sit him in development team for 2016.
If he sulks and has poor professionalism and demeanor for an A grader and refuses to play out the year then he costs nothing CFC zero, as he's in breach of contract.
At very worst case scenario we'll be granted a 2nd rounder as Compo next year, stronger draft.
CFC would have set a rigid criteria and get a better deal in the end.
With the coin we save we can sniff around a few other disgruntled and yet to be contracted players.
It's a double edged sword we're all playing, what goes around comes around.
SOS has to have balls and take this on front no more excuses due diligence please.
Let the games begin, this will be juicy.
Ciao

Well I'm trying to fathom why Lennon can't be part of any deal when contrary to Richmond fans opinions he's not that highly rated outside their fan base by other clubs given the lack of interest from the rest of the league.

I'd drop our 1st on Lennon.

You've made a habit of it in this thread, so I reckon you'd be in a fairly good position to answer that one yourself.
You said it, not me.

Why would I be in a good position to answer a question about something you said about yourself?

If you want to distance yourself from that statement, so be it. But it's nothing to do with me.

Always find it amusing when people try to argue something they very clearly know little about. You fit in well around here.
I find it amusing when people think their assertions are persuasive despite making no attempt to substantiate them.

Yarran is contacted on about $450.000 p a , what would you classify him as? An inexperienced fringe player say like your McBean or Lennon?
Please illuminate me.

The only reason Lennon has not been signed yet is due to a few factors, mainly nutting out the right type of deal which hinges on how much cap space we have once a few deals we are trying to get done, either get done or dont.

Pretty sure that's what they said about Garry Ablett and Buddy Franklin as well....right up until they quit! Putting the contract talks off until the trade period is normally a sign something is happening.
