Coaching Staff Senior Coach: John Worsfold - Thank you John

By precisely the reasons in his article. Despite having one of the best midfield's the game's seen he wasn't *that* great, some good years, yes. But also some really ordinary years. He left the club a mess onfield and had issues on a large scale happening off it.

You might disagree with some of that but if you do, then do so. Don't just complain about the person saying it.
Had a great midfield, 1 gun defender and an abysmal forward line.

made back to back GF's and top 8, 8 years running from memory.

Now, I'd prefer he was our director rather than match day but to talk down his previous coaching tenure is silly.

Walls might be right about Worsfold, he might not be tactically astute as some, but those that are tactically minded dont have time to communicate with everyone at all levels either.

Solution - employ Worsfold along with someone that is tactically minded.

I have no respect for Walls because his hard hitting opinions are generally malicious drivel which are based on personality clashes more than anything that can even be confused as objective thought.

How can you denounce Worsfold in the same breath as a you say that McCartney is someone who should be pursued? The full extent of McCartney's credibility is based on some good work with a narrow focus as an assistant.

It's convenient that Walls fails to make any reference to the West Coast board sticking with Worsfold as the man to rebuild the Eagles' culture post the illicit drugs problem. No reference to the rebuild of the culture, the father figure he became to many on the list and no mention that the list was completely regenerated and that by 2011 they finished top 4 and played in a prelim.

McCartney was an abject failure as a coach. His narrow obsession with one aspect of the game stifled the development of his players and left him entirely unpopular costing the Dogs some very important relationships.

This is the list of players who played in the elimination final this year who were not on the list in 2011 their fist years are in brackets:

Sheed (2013)
Sinclair (2013)
Ellis (2014)
Yeo (2014)
Hill (2012)
Cripps (2013)
Wellingham (2013)
Hutchings (2013)

This is the list of players who played in 2011 (or were otherwise listed) who would have played in the elimination final in 2015 if it was not for injury:

McKenzie (2006)
Priddis (2005)
Masten (2007)
Brown, M (2006)

So, in conclusion, Robert Walls do not talk to me about the state in which Worsfold left West Coast you stupid prick.

Jumped off Doggies after one finals loss?

Speaking of people who hate essendon, Dermie was of the opinion that Worsfold is a great fit for us because he is of good character, very experienced and coaches as a rule perform better in their 2nd tenure.

Im just so confused right now......

Apologies for the intrusion but Walls has always had it in for West Coast. He once wrote a now classic 'Good vs. Evil' article which sadly is no longer on The Age website but quotes from it are still floating around, like here

If you want someone who is respected by the greater AFL community to lead your boys through the post-Hird era, Worsfold is your man. Regardless of what Walls might say.

I don't really care what the greater AFL community thinks tbh.

Neither do I.

And for **** sake, Worsfold is either a liar, or monumentally obtuse. To not know that his team was coked up to the eyeballs?

Do not want.

Yeah let's get the coaches of teams that had players who were never on any drugs....

Worsfold...hard nut, uncompromising HBFlanker...yep qualifies...see other successful coaches.

Yep, time for us to build the 'unsocial team' we used to be.

So Bulldogs success was all the work of Beveridge? What did McCartney do wrong exactly. Griffin didn't like the responsibility so ran away and Minson sooked because McCartney could see the writing on the wall....and Minson lost his place this season.

You need to put Walls opinion in perspective. The night of WC'S premiership in 2005 he stated it was tainted.

No surprise Walls doesn't rate Worsfold.
