Again, like Carlisle, I'm not too fussed if he lands at St Kilda, if Collingwood can't get him right what makes us able to do it? I know his folks are disappointed with their medicos, but surely they are the experts?

I'm playing the long game, but to answer your question he's probably 60-40 in our favour. If he were my son I would suggest he cash in at St Kilda and take the financial security. Much like Joel Smith did at Hawthorn.

Hopefully to the bombers in the Carlisle trade. The romance of Ross hooking up with Watson at the bombers is nice, but they don't need him. They really could use Wrighty and put him in the midfield where personally I think he belongs.
I would never trade him for Freeman, I'm so off Freeman it isn't funny. I understand he has blistering pace but he never got enough of the ball at even TAC level to warrant being a top 10 pick. I never got it, still don't and if he comes to us I hope he proves me wrong.

I understand you reluctance on Freeman cause of his injury issues. However, I think you seriously underrate his U18/TAC cup form. This is what Champion Data says about his underage year:

Averaged 22.4 disposals (10.3 contested), 6.6 inside 50's (2nd overall), 5.7 clearances (8th overall) per game in the TAC cup. Also had 4 goals and 3 goal assists over his 7 games.

Averaged 20 disp in the U18 champs and was elite in the clearances with 4.7 per game. Ranked 4th for meters gained in his team.

Means if what can be gleaned we are offering 150-200k more a year and a longer contract

Get Carlisle now and (barring catastrophe) we don't have to worry about key position players for the next 8+ years.

Get Carlisle this year and one of Hurley or Talia next year. Best back line in the League with Hugh learning the caper.
We need to have personnel in case of injuries and flexibility in games. The Best teams and premiership winners can do this.
West Coast have had to cover LTI this year and Hawthorn have 3 excellent defenders in Gibson, Lake and Frawley. In Frawley´s case they can
swing him forward if needed. Something Carlisle can do in a desperate moment and I´m sure Goddard and a Hurley could also be capable of.
Providing we are ok with the chance of a WADA ban we should go for the right deal regarding Carlisle which we clearly are.
Never know what can eventuate next year.

You're definitely correct about his under 18 stats, I thought he only averaged around 18 a game. Might have to speak to my stats guys. His hamstrings do worry me a bit but I think our medical team would be ridiculously thorough.
If they think they can fix it then i'd back them in.
