Rice could be that small defender IMO. Kicks well. Not sure about the fitness etc though. Combine will be interesting

Depends on the need for a tagger but Weller would be really well suited to the role IMO and given his use of pace lately could gives us what we were hoping for from wright

Carlisle will be at Carlton in 2016. Not sure why you guys are into him, he is a questionable character Offield.

Greg Williams daughter was going out with him and she said he has been using St. Kilda to get a bigger deal.
I believe the term is "pillow talk", or am I mistaken?

Your Boyd deal was a knee jerk reaction considering everything that was happening with your mob.

If you had the time again i do not think you would even entertain the idea of getting him let alone for 1 mill a season on whatever it is.
Issue for another thread, but the club had met him. I'm surprised it's got so many mentions seeing as this is about Carlisle and whatever notions of hypocrisy have been shot down already

StFly Carlisle has already said he wont leave VIC. GWS were the first club to call him.

TBF, Adelaide is much closer to Melb than Sydney is, let alone the hole that is Blacktown, about 160km less.

Moot point though, all that was, was if the Crows are going to end up in the convo with pick 5 & Carlisle why would we not then try and swing it for Talia instead, either way the inherent loser is Essendon in the trade. /shrug

But then, we know full well I'm all about keeping the pick and going to the draft with it.

His manager is saying we've got access to this much money but if you want to make an uninformed purchase you can give us that much money too. According to your take. Saints fans would want their club to talk to a player before putting money on the table too. It's common sense.
um yep have already talked to him

you're assuming. Astounded that Saints fans would encourage clubs not to want more information/ a bit of a chat. All Bevo said

What. I'm not encouraging anything. Merely pointing out that this is a business and that means money matters. If you can't convince Carlisle to do an interview with a serious off then why do you deserve all the info?

The Saints have made him an offer that got him to do an interview with us. This would seem to indicate that the problem is with the Bulldogs and not Carlisle.

Griffen & pick 6 for Boyd when they could've used 6 on Peter Wright in the draft & traded a contracted Griffen to GWS for pick 7 & taken a Goddard or Lever with that pick. Not to mention saving 7 mill over 7 years on an unproven player & not paid Griffen's salary. Is there a worse trade in the history of AFL? I don't think so.

silly business. Saint's wouldn't have given the offer without having met him, so why encourage another club to do any different. nonsensical logic
Incredible. Quite simply your coach said Carlisle's management won't talk until you table an offer.

The reason is that they have a huge offer from the Saints.

Quite simply it is a waste of their time to talk to a club who has no hope of matching the offer.

Simply match the offer. Just do that, then meet and you can always withdraw the offer.

Hilarious the gymnastics you lot are going through.

Just match the offer and he is yours. Unless of course
1. You can't
2. Saints make a counter offer.

Really simple. Just match the offer

I'd be concerned if the Saints had made an offer without being fully satisfied they wanted him.

If his manager wants a bigger market of buyers he can give them a bit of access to his shiny product. Or they won't put up the cash.

A coach is allowed to say that on radio, it's true and reasonable

bolded is an assumption.

You're really struggling to grasp that it's a sensible and reasonable decision to talk to someone before you offer them massive money. Saints would've done the same.

Match the offer. Really not that hard.

If you can't well why even meet?

We sure as hell would have made an indicative offer before we interviewed him in order to show we are serious. This could have been as simple as a saying 'we are thinking about 600-700 over 4 years, subject to negotiation. We can sort the fine print out later'. That's not a binding contract but it shows Carlisle that speaking to us is worth his time.

Why are the Bulldogs above doing this?

There's that Carlton trade that always comes up with that one player costing them millions...

Well match it. Then talk. Why is that so hard for you to grasp.

You lot aren't making the rules. It is up to the player. His rules play by them or bow out

you're having a grand old guess to suggest the dogs haven't indicated they can pay him a reasonable amount. For all we know we've said we're interested in Carlisle, the managers gone "make an offer" and we've gone well can we speak to him. This is... you know.. pretty much the inference that Bevo gives off

Dunno Maybe they think they are the new powerhouse and can do as they like

Closer to a quality spine than many others in our position, Dogs included. But thats why there's a big fuss. As for paying overs in trade, with Ameet and Trout in charge we simply won't. Pick 5 goes, you can bet another first round pick will be coming back our way to make up for it. Im quite confident Essendon will not hold pick 5, if anyone will it'll be Fremantle or someone like Adelaide.

All true, but still hypothetical, as i dont think anyone will know the outcome until the deal is done obviously.

There may be some merry go rounds and swings between clubs doing deals, but at the end of the day i dont want to give up 5 for Carlisle as a one off trade. and i dont think Bains and Trout will but as i said, "i will spew if they do".

Easy.

Carlisle through his manager has a price on his head. He isn't asking Bevo to sign on the dotted line. Bevo only needs to say yup we are in the ball park with a few caveats in place. He could even make it up. Bevo is instead baulking & wasting Carlisle's time.

makes perfect sense mate
Carlisle has limited his search for his new home using a salary range...

You're not in the picture until you are similar. How do you not get that? Do you go to interviews for a job offering much less than what you HAVE ALREADY BEEN OFFERED?
