The Boyd deal is ridiculous however I reckon we try not to get bogged down & derail the thread. I personally like it when other team supporters post on our board so long as they are respectful. Let's not turn into the injectors board.

We are paying Paddy 80K, Bulldogs are paying Boyd a lazy $7 million.

Not denying the cash bro.

Like I said, they paid overs.

Pretty sure we were all getting a hard on at the prospect of trading pick 1 for him last year...

He may be over priced, but doesn't mean he won't live to his potential.

Cannot agree enough. Too many people on here get easily fired up by supporters of other teams, when much of the time they're being reasonable. I think often it's good to have a different perspective on something.

whilst I reckon you paid overs for potential rather than substance, I'm not sure why Paddy Mac is allowed to develop becuase big players take longer, but Boyd is spud because he isn't AA in his 2nd year.

Could very well embarrass us all in the future.

If you put his salary aside his performance was about right this year for a guy his size at 19; he had some impressive moments. But he made an unprecedented move for unprecedented money and that makes him a target.

Hopefully everyone will have to eat their words. Time will tell.

1: our cap space is excellent so we can afford to pay top dollar for the right player.

2: #standbytoxic... he/she may be black and white, but the blood is red.
traitorous! Sorry, I don't care for collingscum.

Also, both collingwood and carlton are known for dodgy deals that help secure players - Sponsorship and stuff behind the scenes that helps set their players up after football, in a way that smaller clubs can't.

Im still pro carlisle though

Doesnt mean he will either

I think Boyd will more than repay the faith IMO , rather he be at Dogs than Collingwood, Hawthorn , Sydney ect.......

Why not package Hickey and Ross to Essendon for Carlisle and a pick? They need a ruck and everyone seems too think Hickey would be open to it.

Then on trade whatever pick we get perhaps. Just a random bathtime thought here!

And i take no offence

However judging a post by which club it comes from is probably not the right thing to do, shows an element of having a very closed mind
Your call tho

Talking to the dead man? :p

I got the joke... mods took it seriously.

But yes, I agree. He may or may not. No doubt a big risk IMO for the money.

They were crying out for a Carlisle down back, absolutely would have been a fantastic trade for them. He was a Dogs supporter and always wanted to play for them.

reckoned if they were anywhere near our price he would be going there. Boyd has killed that. Completely stuffed their chances.

Boyd will probably be a very good forward but he is not a $1 mill a year player. Completely irresponsible trading from Gordon.

Will cost them in the flag window

Out of curiosity what do you think Will Minson and jarrad grant would've been on?

500 and 350k?

Fwiw they could find cash if reqd or even more likely jake PREFERS another club

No doubt a major brain fart by Gordon at that price.

As mentioned, they could have nabbed Wright for Nix.

But as you stated, they were in crisis and needed something to show for it. Too bad they did an Abbott and sold their ar$e$ for him.

Story of my life at the moment. I am concerned for my own wellbeing

I find myself compulsively refreshing these pages in the hopes that something has happened, regardless of the fact that the trade period is 6 days away. My wife is sick of all of my inane chattering and my cat just looks at me with a mixture of confusion and disgust.

Fingers crossed something slips through the cracks soon and we can all salivate at the potential 2016 lineup!

Can you imagine SOS at Carlton staring out his office window, seeing Boekhurst running around, he must be fuming with some of their trades/drafting last year. Always makes me smile.

As for Boyd he'll come good, it's just a matter of whether he'll be good or great. That contract was reckless though. A 5 year contract, fair enough for a number 1 pick, but 7 years?! You could have the next Riewoldt or the next Watts, who knows yet.

To be fair I seem to remember some stuff about walking the line sponsorship deals for Riewoldt back in the mid 2000's
