I don't think that comes into question. If we land Menzel, and Kerridge is part of the package we will be very excited.

However, if we trade Kerridge in a firesale - I think we have made a mistake.

Kerridge is uncontracted. He could leave for nothing if he wanted to.

May or may not be real

He never said we will go to the draft pick 3 picks inside 30. He said that we would like 3 picks inside 30. He also talked about having the ability to navigate within the draft order with the trades and how we have a good record at that (pointing to the deal with Geelong last year).

Besides all of our recruits are in the 19-23 age group which means we are looking towards the future and trying to cover for the missed drafts with sanctions. Menzel is another one that fits into this category.

As a club we have been much more cagey in our public remarks recently than at any point in the past. Menzel, Hampton, Seedsman and Gore still gives you youth (in the right age demographic) for our list plus we will have at least 2 picks this year inside top 30. All things being equal, that is a pretty decent trade period for us. Address the need, add a left footer, add some X factor, add some pace and improved kicks. If we get Menzel, it's shaping up as good as the trade period where we got Brad Crouch, Brown, Jenkins and Lynch. In a couple of years time we could be laughing.

No, he never said specifically that they wanted to draft 3 kids inside the top thirty. But he did say that we were trying to fix the 21-23 age group and that he "thinks" the recruitment of the 3 new players we've now got fixes that. I understand the words used are undeniably unspecific in nature and there may very well be a good reason they're doing that, like he's trying to hedge his bets on whether we do anything more this trade period.

Then there is this statement from the AFL.com article which included an interview with Noble, but did not quote anyone when saying the following:

Adelaide say it has completed its incoming trade business after signing Dean Gore (Geelong), Curtly Hampton (GWS) and Seedsman (Collingwood) to provide pace and run from half-back.

So the message I'm feeling from Adelaide is this is the position they are happy with and will probably stay there. If there is a trade for Menzel, then I guess they've been vague enough, except for the bit where AFL.com writes Adelaide say it has completed its incoming trade business.

Let's just say I won't be the least bit surprised if no more deals go through.

Yes with a late pick ....which although i love us taking him, is still speculative

Apart from Tex and JJ .....it's only Dear and zip in the reserves cupboard

Need to be planning 3-4 years out with KPP .....we'll draft one this year

If I remember correctly, Otten wasnt too bad as a forward when he was thrown there

The fact he is contracted could mean we have to pay overs to land him. Kerridge+13 likely to get the deal done, remembering it has to be good enough for Carlton to want to take. Would we be happy to give up that

So a player that was originally pick 12 and done little to further enhance that "potential" thus far in his AFL career we give almost the same pick in this year's draft and a likely best 22 player at Carlton next year in Kerridge [pick 27]....no doubt pick 13 and Kerridge would get it done because Carlton would be pantsing us if we were desperate enough to have agreed to that. And that's without the fact Menzel has already had an ACL repair via the risky LARS procedure rather than the standard surgery. Proceed with caution....

Nobles also talks about being alert to opportunities that may arise and where appropriate making good decision even if that means a shift away from the initial strategy

I'll take pick 9, 13 and Menzel ahead of pick 9, 13 and 28 everyday of the week

So would I and Carlton having an extra pick in the top 30 will definitely assist with their rebuilding strategy of going to the draft, so they may be up for it considering Menzel is an injury risk.

Kerridge and 13 would be too much, imo.

There are still significant injury clouds over the Menzels, which make them a risk; but their talent makes them a risk worth taking.

I'd go Kerridge and 28, for sure, but I'd be reluctant to part with a first.
No way we trade 13 away and Kerridge for Menzel. Carlton get away like bandits in such a trade.

"Adelaide is believed to be keen on the 21-year-old and could take advantage of Carlton’s interest in Sam Kerridge if it is to complete a trade."
CARLTON could trade out another goalkicker with talented youngster Troy Menzel scheduled to meet with Adelaide on his way back from holidaying in Bali.

The Herald Sun understands South Australian Menzel was set to be medically examined by the Crows last night with both clubs open to a trade, which must be ticked off by Thursday’s 2pm deadline.

A deal would almost certainly see fringe midfielder Sam Kerridge join the Blues as new list manager Stephen Silvagni continues to turn over the wooden-spooner’s playing list.

Menzel, 21, has kicked 47 goals in 40 games since he was selected at No.11 in the 2012 draft.

Not a contested marking Key Forward though .....Otten is more in the Lynch type mould

Exactly, pick 13 straight away off the table with Kerridge now involved.

top 12-14 picks are outstanding this draft so id be doing everything to keep our 2 picks.
if its 28 and kerridge i think its pretty fair.
Spot on .....do this deal every day of the week

I think he's taking the piss, to show that people are suggesting a trade that values Menzel at close to Dangerfield.
Yeah I really didnt consider that option at all... Work dared to distract me.
