Traded Chris Yarran [to Richmond for Pick 19]

t seems almost unfathomable that a fully fit player in his prime would sit out a season to get to his club of choice, but that's apparently what disgruntled Blue Chris Yarran is considering.

The Herald Sun reports the 24-year-old is so desperate become a Tiger that he could give the 2016 season a miss and join Richmond as a free agent.

"It’s a possible option," a source close to Yarran told the Herald Sun.

Carlton refuses to accept Richmond’s offer of pick 19 for the 119-gamer, and it is believed the Blues would also have knocked back the pick 17 the Tigers tried to coax from the Brisbane Lions in exchange for defender David Astbury.

Carlton remains adamant it wants the Tigers' pick 12 for Yarran.

But The Age suggests the Blues might soften their hardline stance given it appears untenable for Yarran to fulfill the final year of his contract at Ikon Park.

It's believed the Blues and Yarran have not had direct contact at any stage of the trade period, and Carlton's free agency compensation for him next year wouldn't be as good as pick 19.

I don't think yarran is stupid enough because he would be forgoing the 400k he is on, then he is a restricted free agent next year so tigers still have to trade for him next year. The balls in the blues court not in tigers or yarrans.

In fact unless it was for a super star your clubs first pick should never be traded.

I think North got a better player in anderson then they could have drafted with their first pick. Anderson is not a superstar either.

Swans will get a better player in Mills, then they could have got with their first rounder (pick 14). He is no Superstar.

I could go on, but this is a stupid statement.

There are a lot of reasons to trade your first pick

Yarran is going to sit out a year apparently.

He won't. If he stays I can see Bolton getting more out of him. Unfortunate as he does have talent but on field and off field issues forcing to part ways

Richmond and Yarran deserve one another. Threatening to stand out of footy should be ringing the alarm bells at Punt Road. I mean, who the **** does that?

Buyers beware. Yarran will give you 3 good games out of 14. Other 8 will be suspended either by AFL or internally by the club

Then don't buy him.

To us (the wooden spooner) HE IS!!!! Get that through your thick skulls.

He's OUR player and WE set the price...

Don't like the price? move on.

I would be happy if we moved on at this stage.

Incorrect. Read the back page of the HUN, Carlton are blocking this, and no one bar Carlton can believe you are not taking 19. Nearly everyone (bar Carlton supporters) are either shaking their head or laughing at Carlton.

Knocking back this trade its official, SOS is the new Dodoro, and it will make life difficult for the Blues in future trade periods.

Thats absolute rubbish, he has gotten two trades done with no fuss this trade period. One of which was for a contracted player.

Don't mistake extracting full value for a contracted player for the ridiculousness Dodoro comes up with.

Then this club is even lower than I thought... and that's pretty low.

I have trouble believing even Richmond could sink to those levels.
Sorry but you know SFA about anything. Just because a poster writes this doesn't mean it's true. Can't believe the dribble on this thread....

You can keep him, we'll keep pick 19. We'll get him as a RFA next year and you will get a second round compensation pick which is worse than pick 19...

Then you can shove the 2016 wooden spoon up your arse sideways. campaigners.

Sos is Dodoro Lite. If he wants to totally ruin his reputation, I'm sure we will accommodate him.

So when you get a good pick for Bell and screw Brisbane of course the trade goes smoothly.

Ok mete. ...

When you say we, what role do you have at the club?

A first rounder because the Cats are arguably the most generous traders there are, and a quite generous deal from Brisbane for a player who wants to go home to his sick parent....

Yeah, Carlton are such great traders........

Refusing pick 19 for Yarran is incredibly stubborn. He's just not that good a player (and Carlton fans can go on about his importance now, but I'll believe it when I see it during the season), and both he and the club want him to leave.
