I'm calling it. The race for the 8 is already down to 9. The following teams suck and can't make it.

Carlton
Freo
Essendon
Brisbane
Melbourne
St kilda
Collingwood
Richmond
Port
Fair enough fronk, but you are basing your assertion on a fairly small
sample size of games and can't possibly factor in injury and other
factors as yet. Teams like Gold Coast have played Essendon, Carlton
and a very confused Fremantle for their three wins hardly full of
merit.

With us playing GCS up in Cairns again this year, I assume there will be a replacement game for those of us unable to attend.

Looking through the fixture, I can only imagine that it would be one of the MCG games against Melbourne (R8) or Collingwood (R10).

Does anyone know???

that just means the suns suck less than the other nine teams ;)

and from the standard of footy I have been watching I fully agree with fronk

Luke Dahlhaus is our most important player. I've thought it for a while. Played every game last year. Was tagged in round 1 and 2 (opposition coaches have realised how damaging he is). Round 3 he manages to get off the leash and shows why Lyon and Richardson put work into him. Only in round 2 Dahl had 16 disposals and 13 tackles. His "tagger" had something like 8 and 3. This may be why Clarkson decided not to bother trying to shut him down.

He went from a bit of a cult hero/goal sneak originally. Then he shaves his infamous dreads and goes low-key for a while as he develops his midfield prowess. There has been steady progression every season. He never broke out in a big way like some of our more noted guns. He just slowly kept getting better, staying under the radar. He is now one of the most damaging inside mids in the comp without anyone realising it was happening.

i think you are right. Coaches rate him but the footballing public underestimate him.
He has moved inside the top 50 in the AFL player ratings.

Luke Dahlhaus was the man who rose from the ashes of the
Tom Liberatore knee injury so much so that he has now gone
past him and has more tricks to his bow. His pace gives him
a point of difference over the dour inside plodding types.

Don't think Dahl has gone past Libba. So far he's probably played better this season, but Libba's 2014 was immense and if he gets to that level again, I'd say he's the best player on our list. His disposal efficiency is so much better than Dahl's and is one of the few that can match his tackling/intensity that we have.

Certainly not knocking Libba webbo , i was making the simple point that
sometimes when a coach changes and the methodology changes it can
favour a player who if you like was in the right place at the right time.
Tom Liberatore is exellent in the "phone box",but the only time he saw
the "Tardis" he did his knee. Bevo speak. Give him eight weeks or so to
gain his full confidence and he will be fine.;)

I think Libba and Bonts both have the potential to go past him but as it sits I think he's our MVP given the importance of stoppage work in footy. Obviously have a very good list and in particular good back line and midfield supporting him. He also still nails clutch goals for us. He can kick a goal with more limited time and space than most.

Could I get a few opinions on Libba vs Heppell? Had a chat with my dad about this. Also who are the top 6 players on our list?

Wood
Bont
Libba
Stringer
Dahl
Macrae
??

Libba when he's actually in form and at his best is better than Heppell. But since his injury, he still hasn't got back to his best. Although he's still been pretty bloody good.

As for the top 6 on our list, Murphy is in over Macrae but otherwise that looks pretty damn good when they're all fit.

Heppell is a pretty bloody good footy player mate and it's not fair to compare him to Libba they are very different.

Top 6 player in my eyes are

Wood
Bont
Libba
Stringer
JJ
Dahl

I know that. But Libba at his best was the best inside midfielder in the competition, with elite kicking skills to boot.

"Who are the top six players on our list?"

Top six in what? How are we rating them? Subjective opinion? What makes one player better than another? Do we measure by disposals? Goals? Hitouts? Salary?

Everyone is pretty much going to have a different opinion. How do you compare an inside mid to an outside runner? How do you compare a small forward to a ruckman? Are we basing this on 2016? 2015? 2014? Career? Since the beginning of time?

Are they being judged on current form? Career best form? Potential? Can we include guys like Crameri who are on the list but can't play? Guys with LTIs included or just who is fit to play? What about someone like Easton Wood who isn't currently playing but is expected to only be out for a short while? Is Bob included?

Define your terms, man.

Heppell by the length of the straight , really.
Give me 20 of Lbbers touches over Heppells 30 any day of the week.

But what about their hand size!?
I have never pressed the flesh with either so i am unsure of their hand
dimensions although i have heard Dyson Heppell has hands like a
catchers mitt in baseball and he is impressive in the shower.

Note- Height to weight ratios i love, but the hand size stuff is crap.
