Agree. I really dislike that he has an adversarial relationship with the media, he should be better than that. It's my one major disappointment with him as a coach.
Disagree with both you guys. He got a bit defensive after the throwing comments and after the Lindsay Thomas incident but other than that i think he's been good.

I think Bevo has a healthy cynicism of the media.

As somebody with knowledge of that industry, it's a good approach to take.

There are some great journos out there, but there are some shockers who are like sharks and love nothing more than a bit of blood in the water and if there's no blood, they'll rip open a wound and create some.

Bevo's already been burnt a few times for being forthright (Thomas, Heppell comments)

Bevo's media approach doesn't bother me at all, he just needs to choose the odd word more carefully.

When he described Adelaide's manner of dealing with the umpiring department as 'disgusting', it was totally misconstrued.

"We wouldn't have dealt with it like that" would have sufficed. The journos don't have a loaded word to run with in tweets and summaries, there's not a big story.

Instead, his message is distorted in an effort to generate clicks and interest (no problems there, that's how the media operate. Byproduct of the shift to digital and the resultant financial uncertainty - but that's a discussion for another time).

Bevo cops it from opposition fans adamant he's a whinger, and Andrew Fagan (who shares all the qualities of Frankenstein's monster except the giant bolts in his neck - and is more of an arseh*le) gets on backwater radio taking potshots at our club's history.

He's absolute salt of the earth Bevo, as real as they come, but that's my only gripe. Don't change, just sugarcoat it a bit to shield us from that crap.

The best radio show every week AND Bevo putting in his best media performance at the same time. Must listen this:

I found it interesting when he said they acknowledge the history but they're trying to create something new. If anyone remembers the St Kilda open mike special, sports psychologist reckons each club has its own identity/culture. He's clearly trying to break anything of the sort and create a healthy, positive, winning culture. I'll be very keen to hear the media and his commentary around preliminary final week if/when we start making them again. He has some fascinating theories though and I would love for him to write a book when it's all said and down, if he and Bob teamed up, it'd be a best-seller.

Only if they mastermind a drought breaking flag :(

Really? geez, i was simply asking. I actually PAY for it as well, but i'm not home tonight and had my phone, so thought there might be a thing where you could sign in to FS online or something and view it.
Sorry did not realise you already had Fox.

At least bev isn't fake in front of cameras and gives an honest opinion. Can't fault that.

One of my favourite moments was when he wrapped up a press conference then called all the journos back to give Justin cordy a whack. We have been pushed aside as a club for too long. I think his raw honesty and some times rough media approach is what we need. Plus he needs to rag on damo a bit more.

I wouldn't steal a car but if I was able to freely download a car I'd do it yesterday.

But if you pay for your internet connection, then your car wouldn't be free. I'm tipping you would be downloading a Ferrari rather than a Mazda 2, so not sure 3G will cut it!

This is not accurate. He was talking about how some people in the media had singled out the umpiring and distorted free kick count. Because he didn't explicitly say he was referring to the media, the media distorted the comment to suit their own purposes (suggesting he was referring to Adelaide).

He clarified it at his mid-week presser after the Crows game.
