The problem is how do we fit both Barlow AND Kamdyn in the same team?

That's the real issue here.
Easy we just need to get minson as a free agent then East Perth will be set

Would you guys have any interest in acres?

Guelfi is one that would suit you guys perfectly IMO has that hardness about him with some serious mongrel in him

Agree Guelfi would be ideal for WCE , looks like a competitive kid who likes winning plus leadership ability .......what more do you need , might go third round also ????

Not sure on Acres after Redden and Jetta last trade period surely not another middle of the road midfielder .

Wonder if we would take Goddard with our first pick ,...... means our ruck stocks are going to be strong for a decade to come. WCE have drafted many midfielders it could be time to boost our strength !!
If you want Goddard, I doubt whether a 1st rounder is needed. I would expect a second round pick would be enough.

Disagree on your comment on midfielders. From the classes of 2014 & 15, we have potential good talent in Duggan, Nelson, Cole, Partington and Mutimer on our list (discounted Waterman as I am not sure he will return). However in the draft years of 2011/12/13, we only have 2 midfielders of those draft years in Sheed and Yeo.

Had a chat today with a Melbourne based recruiting scout. There is a general feeling that this year is a solid and deep draft but not the stand-outs from the last 2 years in the first round (at least not after excluding academy talent). General view is not many for sure A grade mids but plenty of good B grade mid prospects running deep into the 3rd round (before I hear groans - Nelson was a 3rd rounder)

Could this be the year to load up on second round picks? Possibly trade away our first round pick for 2 good second rounders. Also would be worthwhile adding in Lamb if he wants to go home for an later upgrade - say our third and Lamb for an early second rounder.

Keeping it WA based as there tends to be more knowledge on this board about the local talent, how would you feel about:

Out Lamb (will get some trade value), Brown (FA so compo pick only)

In Rotham, Strnadica, Godddard, Bolton, Waterman and one of Guelfi/Banfield/Wright

That would deliver
Rotham - a highly skilled half back flank that could possibly do midfield minutes but be the HBF quarterback (he may be gone late first)
Strnadica - KPF or quality to take over from Kennedy and very handy taking a turn in ruck
Goddard - the next quality ruckman that will be happy spending a couple of years in East Perth
Bolton - quick mid that can play both inside and outside and gets his own ball
Waterman - discounted FS that is a 3rd tall forward
Guelfi/Banfield/Wright - another quality mid or possibly a small forward

Worthwhile thinking how we can manage the draft

Personally i would rather work up the draft order to get the earliest pick possible to secure Will Brodie he's the type of player we need can see him making a instant impact.

Now Hodge as a stoppage coach is something worth considering. I cannot see Hodge leaving Hawthorn to play elsewhere but I can see him taking a break from Hawthorn in a coaching role.

What do you think about XEllis becoming the stoppage coach next year ?

Wont have a second round pick to use after the possibility of drafting Waterman with our second... that's what i am saying we may need to use our first rounder on Goddard cause very unlikely at our third round pick.

It seems that ruckman English and older draftee Cameron ( Claremont ) are shaping as top 30 picks also.

Should be interesting to see who WCE target this draft..... as you said trading out a player or two will help possibly.

I was sitting next to 3 recruitment teams on Sunday and their were some negative comments made about Waterman. Not sure whether his 1 goal 5 was teh equivalent to Darling's tent adventures but 2 out of the 3 made audible side comments that were not positive. When he missed his 3rd, the comment was "See - I told you" was made rather too audibly and the person was a little embarrassed.

I suspect we will only need to use a 3rd rounder on him with the FS discount.

I believe Simpson rates Ellis in relaying and implementing the strategy. So could be a worthwhile thought. Not sure about stoppages - he has not spent much time with us in the midfield.

I think there was a time he spent a good amount of time in the Hawks box on game day due to being injured for a large chunk of his time at the Hawks .

I have seen he has been playing as a HFF/ winger which is not exactly the type of player we need. When acres was drafted I thought he had scope to play on ball and be a ball winner has he produced anything in that regard ?
He is also contracted which means you would want overs .
How about Lamb+ end of second which we may get for mitch brown (FA )
Couldn't say we would offer more TBH

see your point and the only way i see us parting with acres would be for a late first early 2nd

i love lamb, but its hard to place what our recruiters think
