Not a snowball's chance in hell. Trash rumour.

Really? Seems fairly logical option if we can't secure Lobb. We could put Petrie on a short term contract as ruck/forward option to support Lycett while Nic recovers. Better than other options like Zac clarke or whoever else we could get fairly cheap as they would expect a longer contract then one year which is exactly what we could offer Petrie.

Banfield has a pretty good all round game with out excelling at any aspect.
Obviously finds a lot of it , played league this season and didn't look out of place.
Has a balanced inside and outside game. Very coachable kid with good character on and off the field.
Good endurance whilst not quick he is neither slow. Would like a little more polish to his game as if he had that his hurt factor would be more significant.

His biggest asset is his application to the game as he is one determined individual, very consistent.
Has an apatite for the contest and is a very good tackler.

Played well at Scotch also in the PSA competition.

I have been tracking him for a few years now and he just keeps presenting and performing.
He is the type that often plays unheralded at the underage level but then is able to make the transition to the next level through hard work and application.

Bolton has some very magical tricks and moves well in heavy traffic , obviously very dangerous around the goals and know where they are.

As for midfield duties maybe in the future but that would be some time away as he is a stick at the moment, 177cm and 67 kg . Having said that for such a scrawny little bugger he is a good tackler.

But he is super skillfull and has many tricks that are elite and his illusive ability is a real feature.
He is a pretty impressive package thats for sure.
Trouble is that I see him not quite worth our first pick but will be long gone by our second.
I am looking forward with interest to see just how well he blitzes at the Combine as I suspect he will do very well and his stocks may well rise on the back of that.

He certainly has finished the season like a house on fire for Souths Colts, hard to imagine that he could have done any more to elevate his draft stocks.

Thats my two cents worth.
Thanks for the detail response Monocle...It's much appreciated.
I'll probably hit you up over the next week or two for info on a few other WA boys I'd love to know more about.

The guy turns 34 next month, is cooked and should have retired a year or two ago.

.
Petrie is as much as ruck man as I am a super model, he's had 13 hitouts this year, that's right 13 hit outs for the entire year. To put that into perspective for you that is less than Fraser McInnes and Elliott Yeo.

If we went the "best ruck or ruck/forward who would be free and play for us for a year or two" approach, who would the options be?

I don't want Petrie but there would be a benefit in bringing in a stop gap solution (that being that we can keep our picks and trade currency to try to get some good mids).

There are many reasons not to do it, but hardly think offering a fairly low end, one year contract as a stop gap while Nic recovers is beyond the realm of possibility or reasonability.

I honestly wouldn't think it would be the worst thing, I reckon Petrie would do a decent job if we could get some decent delivery into the forward line.

Having said that I agree there are many reasons not too

I assume most people didn't read the article where it says West Coast have not approached Petrie and is simply a journalist looking at what we need, finding a connection (Simpson being a North player), and writing a story.

Peter Vlahos the Russian Greek reporting on it n 6PR

Petrie as his best was very good, not now but a fresh environment no expectations he could play a role for one season before heading into coaching ( may only play 10 games or so )

Im out of here
