Hawthorn failed in the PF in 2011 and hit their straps in 2012 (mostly due to under the table payments to 7 different players massively breaching the salary cap). Colin Young (JOM's Manager) has come out today and stated GCS is only interested in players and not draft picks. Sicily and Breust for JOM is now looking very likely.

On the upside you'll get Mitchell for this years first rounder plus whatever you get for Hill (likely Freo's 2nd rounder). You'll get to keep your 2017 first rounder which is likely going to be in the top 4!

I'm gonna fill you in on a little 'industry' secret that is well kept from most fans. Players age. Yep, they grow older and with their advanced age they often lose the attributes that make them good footballers.

Hawthorn was at the beginning of their peak in 2012 (despite getting embarrassed at home in the GF vs the interstate Swanettes) and Geelong began a rebuild that very same year, after (at the time) having the oldest every premiership list in 2011.

Hawks won in 2015 with an older list than Geelongs of 2011. Why couldn't the Cats win in 12,13? Sorry I will let them off for 2012 as it is a fact the Cats were never good enough to defend a premiership in the AFL era.

Mate even now, this very year, members of the core of your 2007 team are still playing. Guys like Bartel, Selwood, Enright, Mackie & Lonergan.
At the time GC & GWS were plundering drafts you still had Ling, Mooney, Scarlett, Hunt, Milburn, Kelly, Ottens, Chapman, Stevie J, Stokes, Corey & Wojcinski on your list. Don't give me that rebuild bullshit because GC pillaged the draft in 2011 and GWS in 2012, years when your team was still at the top of its game, with almost all your 2007 team still there.



Let me tell you what REALLY happened.

First, the drugs Stephen Dank injected over the 2007 preseason gradually wore off and instead of physically bullying every other team in the comp like men against boys, you had to start outplaying your opponents because you could no longer out muscle them.

Second, you replaced a quality coach in Bomber Thompson with a third-rate excuse whore in Chris Scott.

Third and most importantly, Hawthorn finished its' mini-rebuild in 2012 and began spanking you with predictable regularity. Don't forget if not for us you would've been at least one flag richer, because we both know you would've rolled Freo comfortably in the 2013 GF.

So to summarize - the drugs wore off, you got a shit coach, Hawthorn resumed loving you not-so-tenderly in September, and that's why you've won sweet FA ever since while we went on to immortal fortune & glory.

Holy crap poor Nicky boy is going to need at least 10 stitches in his ravaged anoos.
