That's not the point, the Cats went to the market to try and buy themselves a flag, and it has backfired, while the Hawks played the youth all year. As a rebuilding year this season can be counted as a success for the Hawks, whereas the Cats can't really put a spin on their 2016. They know who can play and who can't, and that they will retire one or two backmen without much to replace them.
