Geez...what does The Dog have to do to get a mention?

I know it's all been said, but just watching that vision... It really sums up Fraser Brown. It wouldn't have mattered who was trying to get around him at that stage, they were never getting past him.
He was a ferocious footballer.

I'm getting old and the memory isn't quite what it used to be, so I don't remember what year it was, but I remember seeing Brown and Ratten at the Vic Market a day after a bruising final against North Melbourne. They were both walking around like they'd been hit by a truck. Two of the toughest players I've ever seen...

I suggest you pop over to the Down Memory Lane thread Coach....you will find it very reassuring!

I don't know about 2nd teams but that is the first GF without Carlton in it that I have watched twice (and I can remember over 50)
Fantastic game. Those who gave Johannisen the medal obviously disregarded turnovers - he was in the bulldogs best but no more than that.

Coach I rewatched the match last night and still could not figure out how Boyd or Picken didn't get the NS medal. At the end of the day they probably don't care that much. It was still thrilling to watch it again and see the players joy.

No argument in regards to JJ getting the gong, crikey he covered some ground.

Boyd & Picken outstanding.

As for the unsung hero, Dale Morris played the greatest 2 kick game of all time.
I thought the best player on the ground was Josh Kennedy. But the day belonged to the Dogs, it had to. Wouldn't have felt right if the Norm Smith went to a Swans player...

No issue with JJ getting the nod, there were probably a dozen Dogs who would've been worthy winners....

I was surprised when watching it a second time that Bevo giving Murph the medal nearly had me tear up.
Maybe I am reading too much into body language but I think it was a huge thing for him to do because he had finished speaking then thought to do it and if you look at how he straightens the medal on Murph's chest a while after he had given it to him - the way he touched it really was 'a tell' that he would really have loved to have kept it

weird that every time I watch Bevo giving Bob the medal, my allergies kick in......
I was pushing pre GF that Bob should play... Obviously I was told what an idiotic idea that was (and of course it was)...

But Bevo found a way to include him anyway, and bring grown men and women to tears...

It's possible you're reading too much into that. The giving of the medal was symbolic, it was to show Bob and the footy world what Murphy means to that club and that premiership. It was the coach's medal anyway, it wasn't a player medal. I don't think the giving of the medal should be taken literally. Bevo is the premiership coach, he doesn't need the medal to prove that. And Bob, despite not playing, was as much a part of that victory as anyone... Medals or no medals, none of that changes...

Like I said, in my view, it was a symbolic gesture, not a literal "here, have my medal"...

Sometimes I am not sure we come from the same planet 16. You are telling me a lot of things that a little kid knows - we know why he did it!!!
I said it it is only a suggestion but I have done a bit of work on body language and it is an explanation for his touching the medal - airy fairy sure but I like to think that it was a sacrifice and not simply like giving him your watch
