He's like Superman, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.

Aaaaand now he's injured again.

That would really suck. Imagine him getting injured in the photoshoot.

According to the AFL website and the Age's report on the final day, Hawthorn traded in Carlton's future second. That then allowed us to trade away our own future second which we did to GC.

I have read and heard conflicting reports about this mind you so I'm not 100% on what actually happened. I'm pretty sure we hold someone's 2017 second rounder, though, and most importantly JOM.

I'm not sure which one you retained either. I just know that Gold Coast wanted a second rounder so whether it was the one we gave you or the one you held from another trade I'm not sure.

Carlton have said we gave up the Giants' 2017 second rounder. We already traded our one to Geelong.

I was streaming the last hour of the draft on the SEN app and let out an audible "Yes!" (in the middle of Perth's main street) when the first "The Hawks got him" announcement was made. A few strange looks, can't believe I was so wrapped up in it!

Seems like an error in the Indicative draft order

Geelong and Hawthorn both hold Carlton's 2nd round draft selection for 2017

I'm pretty confident from reading some more articles that we did trade our own future second to GC. It certainly seems that you traded your own future second to Geelong (you bent them over in that trade by the way, nicely done) and it was indeed GWS future pick that went to us which we now retain. The AFL website is irritatingly unclear on this as it just lists how each future pick was finally acquired and not where it originated. So I read that we got a future second rounder from Carlton and naturally assumed that that meant we had Carlton's future second rounder. It makes that pick swap make a bit more sense now if it was GWS future pick and not your future pick.

Think I'm across it all now.

Maybe Bolts being with us will create a new mutually beneficial trading relationship.

Mind you, we haven't beaten you guys for like 11 years or something. Perhaps we are suffering from Stockholm Syndrome.

It's not Clarko and Bolton so much as it is Wright and SOS. Absolutely thick as thieves those two from all reports.

Yep, strong, athletic, fast, smart, super talented - who does he think he is - Burton?
It's important to remember that Ernie was our original golden child. As good a JOM clearly is/could be, hes just a drop in the Burton ocean...

Interesting. SOS has a few good relationships going with list managers. Obviously Justin Reid will no longer be one of them.

Who would have thought the Blues would be our white knights? SOS earned some brownie points at the HFC today.

Jaeger O’Meara a relieved Hawk after Gold Coast finally agrees to trade

SAM LANDSBERGER, Herald Sun

JAEGER O’Meara sat at home in a cold sweat, clasping his mobile phone.

It was beyond lunchtime on the final day of trade period and the career of one of the AFL’s hottest young talents was in limbo.

O’Meara had already called manager Colin Young about 17 times, desperate for updates.

He had no contingency plan, yet to ponder whether to chance the national draft or reluctantly join Essendon as a pre-season selection.

O’Meara’s fate lay in the heated discussions high up at Etihad Stadium, as Gold Coast and Hawthorn frantically tried to draw in other clubs.

The Suns agreed to trade O’Meara — but only if it received pick 10 and two second-round selections.

Gold Coast demanded one of those be Hawthorn’s future second-rounder, but to trade that, the Hawks first had to acquire somebody else’s, under AFL rules.

The Blues were happy to help, and list boss Stephen Silvagni promised the Hawks he would flick them Greater Western Sydney’s future pick as soon as he landed it.

Suddenly, as one man working on the Jaeger trade said, it was “inching forward”.

Problem was, at 1.30pm, Silvagni’s old club — the Giants — was stalling, with so much still to do elsewhere.

But by that stage, Young knew it would get done, and so he texted Jaeger: looking good.

O’Meara wiped the sweat from his forehead and jumped in the shower. He said the tension had made him “too stinky” to arrive at a new job without a wash.

The Blues and Giants did their deal, the Suns nabbed their other second-rounder from a helpful Fremantle and O’Meara was a Hawk.

Both clubs admitted the trade would not have gone through if not for the Blues.

Hawks’ list chief Graham Wright said the last 30 minutes was filled with anxiety — “it was pretty tough”.

Wright quickly called O’Meara and joked beers for Silvagni would’ve been on him last night, if not for Silvagni’s quick escape OS.

Ninety minutes later, O’Meara was unveiled at Waverley, and attention turned to his troublesome knee.

“I’m really confident (in my body),” O’Meara said.

“I’ve had that little bit of (clean-up) surgery about seven to eight weeks ago and after that, it’s feeling really good.”

Round 1 next season will mark almost 950 days since the 2013 Rising Star last played AFL — but Round 1 is his aim.

There are no hard feelings for the Suns, not even outspoken, tough-talking chairman Tony Cochrane.

“Water under the bridge. I’m a Hawthorn player and … I won’t give that too much thought anymore,” he said.

And hearing that must make Hawks fans squawk again.

I said this in the other thread, the relationships are so important in that role. Being able to trust each other so that mutually beneficial trades can happen.

Love his reaction to the Cochrane question. I think 'water under the bride' was Jaeger's tactful way of saying 'that guy is a world class campaigner and I am glad there is an entire state separating us'.

"There are no hard feelings for the Suns, not even outspoken, tough-talking chairman Tony Cochrane."

How ****ing dumb is this Landsberger campaigner?

No doubt whatsoever. Who cares what it costs, we've got 2 midfielders who will be A grade, will compliment each other well and will play for ten more years.

******* home run mate!

Gotta laugh at TC, the future pick they got originated with GWS, so I believe that might be as high as pick 36!
Can you imagine Lovell, Langers and the other kids running around with Jaeger, Tom, Ryan, and don't forget Silk and Cyril. Clarko will have a whole new plan for 2017, and already I can't wait.

He's denser than a ****ing mud cake - that comment was dripping in deliberate insincerity.

How about we just owe you in next years trade and we still beat you on the field.!!

Seriously though so stoked at least one club came to the rescue to help us out.. Felt like it was us against the world
