Always happens to us when an injury is worse than 1st thought. Apparently done in the 1st quarter but he "pushed" through it. Why would he have to. Medi guys should have pulled him if he had rolled an ankle because there is always a chance it can get worse of happen again.

In other news, Christensen has only just done surgery, how come this wasn't done a week ago or straight after it happened.

If you did that we would finish every game 3 or 4 or 5 short.

The way we're playing at the moment, I don't think we will feel the loss of players through injury as much as we have in the past. Yes, they will be a loss, but Fagan will be getting everyone to play their role and there won't be as much reliance on any individual as there has been previously. Look at teams like the Hawks and Bulldogs, they are able to cover the loss of key players by playing to a system that relies on the team rather than any individual, and have been able to cover the loss of key players pretty successfully.

Maybe the doctors did a different unit to the one you did.

We haven't even played our system for a full game, injuries will hurt us far more than hawthorn or bulldogs. We won't be able to cover successfully.

Apparently.

That's nasty then. I've had half a dozen shoulder breaks and dislocations myself and the one where I did the same side twice in one season (start and finish of the season) was the worst to get over. It was a long time ago and I was just an amateur with regular health care though so hopefully he goes better with his support. It wouldn't surprise me at all if his return is extended longer than expected though.

Bundy came to our junior club last year and he did a Q & A after the session and one kid asked him about the injuries he's had. He rolled off a dozen things that were pretty bad from back injury to a couple of concussions, that left the kids (and especially their parents!) kind of shocked especially when you consider that he was only just 25 at the time. Poor bloke.

I wondered if he had a plate still in that contributed to the 2nd break. Saw a u17 player last year that snapped his forearm on the plate he had inserted the first time he broke it. Whatever, it isn't good.
On top of the back surgery you gotta think he could have issues with arthritis as he gets older.

Your medical degree.;)
I don't know anything about medicine. Well not nothing, but a little bit. It just doesn't make sense, the JLT series has an extended bench with the sole purpose for players to be rested through part of the game or eased in.
If he has rolled an ankle, even minor, there is a chance that it can re-roll making further damage.
Winning doesn't matter, would rather he had just rested the game and maybe he wouldn't be in this position now or not as serious. Who knows. But the playing on was not needful

Yeah that's awful for that kid. Even if Div 1 and all that its not worth playing with a plate especially in a place like a forearm.

And if benching a first year player for an ankle deemed to be ok by sports physiotherapists means that we're a planned rotation short and can't put another senior player on ice and they get injured?

We're talking about a 3-4 week injury for a first year player here. It's not the end of the world. 3 weeks would out him back in time for round 1

The media department just did an intrigue 'swipe up to find out what happened to Hugh McCluggage' thing on insta.. you can't do intrigue, click bait things about negitive news.. i thought he had resigned for 3 years.

They did something similar a couple of years ago... was a tweet a long the lines of "Stay tuned for some big news".. then an hour or so later the revelation was that Leuenberger had been injured.

Really a bad way to spread the news.

It just misses the mark abit. You can't tantalize us with mounting 4-6 week injury set backs lol

As others have mentioned, will have been for medical reasons. When I broke my collarbone, the surgeons wanted to wait 3 months before doing surgery, which would have entailed re-breaking the collarbone. I had other injuries and the concern was the minute chance of getting an infection from the collarbone surgery would greatly affect my other injuries. If I wanted to have the surgery asap, I still had to wait for the swelling to gone down.

I doubt he would still have had a plate in from the last injury.

Apparently it was the third time it was broken. He was sucking on the green stick pain killer thing repeatedly saying 'mum's going kill me, mum's going to kill me'. Poor bugger. Sometimes it's just not fair.
