Geelong Supporters - are they Victoria's dirty little secret?

  • Yes, thank goodness they're mostly confined to a single town.

  • Yes, out of sight & out of mind. We shun them and rightly so.

  • No, every state has a criminal underclass.

  • No, they're people too... poorly bred perhaps but that's not their fault.

Your youf is average mate. You'd better hope your poaching from other clubs method can get you out of trouble again, although watching Mitchell and O'Meara wouldn't instil the most ardent fan with confidence.
Watching Mitchell in last years Prelim had me very excited- maybe you not so much I'd imagine.
O'meara im not even going to bother defending.

Mithcell is rather meh. One-paced and doesn't really use the ball that well. Never received a tag at Sydney for obvious reasons. Doesn't hurt sides nor does he have the capacity to. O'Meara, his ball use is average. Doesn't hurt sides either now he's lost his explosiveness. :)

Quick thoughts lads on first year rookie Eddy kicking 5.4 on Burton in one half of football? I'm not a Hawthorn supporter but even I was deeply concerned at the sight of a first year rookie player destroying your clubs most talked up youngster. Parfitt looked bloody good for us though, that Caddy swap looks like a stroke of genius already.
Hes a nineteen year old gun foward who has never played full back in his life.
Had absolutely no idea.
Did you see him with ball in hand though? You can see the Jarman influence.

Alistair Clarkson admits that he failed Hawthorn supporters by shipping off club legends Sam Mitchell and Jordan Lewis under the guise of salary cap purposes, when in reality he could have kept both of these blokes while still bringing in Tom Mitchell and O'Meara.

"We would have been pretty tight, but we would have been able to," Clarkson told SEN on Tuesday.

"We were hoping that the actual recruiting of Tom and Jaeger was along the lines of learning from (Luke) Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis for 12 months or two years.

"They (the deals) were all independent of one another.

What we have here is Clarko confirming what everyone knew all along, that this off-season was a ****-up of epic proportions, and their two best players are now playing for opposition clubs for no reason whatsoever. :straining::straining::straining::straining::straining::thumbsu:

If we spend 95% of the cap for this year ... we can spend 105% next year!
(Think you'll find we'll land a free agent this year ... pretty well known name too ... some would argue best player in the comp :D)

Unlike the Handbaggers ... we are always looking forward ... not living in the past trying to claim VFA pennants! :thumbsu:

Dangerfield isn't leaving Geelong.

As an aside, wow wee, Brandon Parfitt looks like another Wells gem ... already overtaken grubs like Langford and Shiels and hasn't even debuted good and proper as yet.

So recruiting Touhy to replace Enright and Henderson to replace Lonergan isn't thinking forward.

Hawks are getting in mid mercs. No solid replacement for Gibson and half back chip scab Hodge. Recruiting Fyfe on 1.4 a year is going to **** the Hawks for a generation. Going to be fun to watch.

Fyfe's staying at Freo.

Remember its two free agents coming in to our premiership factory next season not one.

Im tending to agree with you Chappy and thinking possibly Trengove is one.

Problem being ... You have recruited for the here & now - not for the future!

... Giving up 1st rounders for 27 year olds when you're not in a premiership window, is perplexing to say the least ... wouldn't you be better off looking towards the future and get some decent youth???

Difference between Geelong & Hawthorn ... Geelong strive to be competitive, yet very rarely make the top honour.
Hawthorn are always looking towards the future ... thus why we have been the most successful club for over 50 years. :thumbsu:

McEvoy wants to put his experience at Hawthorn to good use and milk cows for a living so you'll need a replacement there as well.

Yeah I know.
We have had incredible success with very mediocre ruckmen, we just need someone who doesn't get destroyed that's all.
Ceglar will be more than adequate once his knee comes good but its easy to see why we needed Vickery isnt it? (And its not as a power foward thank god)

p.s I see what you did there.

LOL. Hawks had to bottom out to get their 3peat. Maybe the Cats should try it but it's never been in our nature.

Brett Eddy should have been playing AFL two years ago. He's too good a player to not get a crack in the AFL. When I lived in Adelaide I adopted South Adelaide as my club due to them being local to the suburb I lived in. I always thought Eddy would make it to the AFL if he kept his form up.

I would be confident in saying that Eddy will have a career as good as Pods, although probably not being a Premiership player. He's as good as Pods in the air, albeit not as big, but is more mobile and more accurate by foot, both with his disposals and his set shots.

So you rather get smashed in a prelim than win cups??

Rather see our side bottom out for a few years and come back with yet another dynasty

Really? Have you seen him kick? Makes Langford look elite.

You obviously haven't. The commentators mentioned a few times how good he was by foot ... make your next one realistic.

I've watched all 3 JLT games, mate he is woeful by foot. Can't believe you wasted pick 25 on a guy that probably still would have been there late in the draft, or even the rookie draft.
