A few observations from the game.
- the members area at Adelaide oval is shit.
- poulson & fisher are tiny. In particular Poulson looked like he couldve played in the mini-league at half time. Happy his first involvement was a tackle though.
- port adelaide have underachieved the last couple of years. They have a developed squad and shouldve achieved more.
- Our delivery into the forward line is a freaking joke
- On that, too many kicks under nil pressure going straight to opponents. Can live with a scrapped kick forward, but geez the amount of kicks under no pressure going straight to opponents is terrible.
- first option Pickett is what my old coach wouldve said to him. Has some serious wheels though, just needs to take the first option and not try and do too much.
- Cripps should have a 'not allowed to kick' message. By hand only please.
- Charlie Curnow covers some serious ground. Full forward one minute, next minute in the back line, then taking a mark on half forward.
- My worst moment of the game was when Ed Curnow allowed an uncontested mark to a power forward. Seriously when the forward is leading to space, and the kick is to advantage, the defender has no chance. You had to go Ed, and you stopped and watched.
- My second worst moment was Murphs tackling. Obviously his shoulders are stuffed as he couldnt tackle a chicken.
- Still doing basic football errors. Marchbank kick out on the full, seriously just pretend to kick and make sure its out first. Forget who it was, but if a faster opponent is running with you onto a loose ball and will go into the forward line with no pressure, then TAKE THE GUY OUT. Give away the free and hold the play up. Dont let them run away, pick up the ball and waltz into the forward line unimpeded.
- SPS has time. Sad he came out after half time with knee strapping as he was visuably struggling.
- Same with Weitering, after one contest he got up to chase and could barely get going.
- Docherty's stuffed kicks come about because he is STUFFED. Runs himself into the ground.
