I find it amazing the number of fans who have made their mind up about KJ and don't want to know about him playing a senior game. I don't understand the prejudice. He's still young and has had precious few opportunities at senior level.
I would not want to see him moved on until he has had at least a make-or-break block of 4-5 games.

KJ needs to replace a tall in attack. Who goes out for him?

Tough to drop Casbault/Weitering as a forward option for KJ.

So it leaves the option of pushing Weitering back for Rowe/White I guess. White is droppable but the wrong type of player to drop for KJ. We are quite tall already fwd/back. If we are to drop white, most of us want a small to come in like cunners for extra run. Rowe would be hard done by to get dropped for KJ.

So im not sure how he comes in unless a KPP comes up sore/injured.

He is basically fighting Casbault for a spot in my mind and Casbault despite some ups and downs is having his best season. KJ must be going like WTF Cas!

I think our current gameday 22 player structure leaves him with one spot to fight for.

Play him bolts, play him bolts.
I won't stop until you play him. Give him a fair chance.
He took a huge gamble in choosing Carlton to play for. While we were finishing last, and had player like Henderson jumping ship.
It is also proven that taller players take longer to become great players.
Have a look at Kennedy, his first few years we ordenary. Absolute superstar now.

We have to have another look at him in the 1s, give him multiple weeks to see if he can make the big step up to the AFL level, White out for him, Weiters to the backline and KJ up front is probably the right play here.

We will not drop Casboult, Weiters, Jack or Charlie, just to give KJ a go. If we drop White, I think Macreadie gets a run. If Thomas, then Cuningham.

That is a serious rewrite of history.
Was never going to get a game at GWS.
Doesn't matter where he was drafted.
Rogers / Carlton took the huge gamble of trading our pick 7 for Jaksch, Whiley and pick 19 (Boekhorst).
Kennedy showed far more while at Carlton than what posters give him credit for.
Jaksch 2 best games this year were against the 17 year olds and this week against a Casey. Let's see how he goes against a Box Hill and other stronger VFL opposition.

7 disposals, 4 marks and a goal every two games?

End of the day, we either reward good VFL form, or we just pay that idea lip service. Jaksch has earned a call-up, and we have plenty of kids who could use a week or two rotated through the VFL, instead of the whole team burning out by round 15 again. He deserves a good six week stint in the 1s to see if we can squeeze at least four games out of him where he's serviceable or better.

Who do you drop to give Jaksch a game?
Why would you give Jaksch a game ahead of Cuningham, Macreadie, McKay, Polson, Pickett, Sumner, Lamb or Jones?
If we have a raft of injuries, Jaksch gets a game. Otherwise, papers stamped and no club will take him as a delisted free agent.

Because he is playing well at both ends of the ground in the VFL almost every week. Playing better in the VFL than most of the names you have mentioned.

Yes he kicked 5 more than a 5 gamer. My point is i'd rather see him fight hard for 2-3 goals in a tight one compared to 5 in an easier game. I've seen KJ play better games but still not get selected for the seniors. It's like an itch that can't be scratched so i wish someone like Barass70 could shed some light on KJ's situation.

I wish all our players on the list were evaluated by the same standards. Did you hold Daisy Thomas to this standard when he ran around unchecked for 4 quarters and racked up 30 easy disposals against fairly poor opposition to earn a recall to the senior team? I'm still struggling to work out why people are prepared to give Jones, Boekhurst, Buckley etc another chance in the seniors just like Graham has received, through good form in the VFL, but aren't prepared to offer KJ the same opportunity.

I just don't think Jaksch will make as much of a contest as Casboult, Weiters, Charlie or Jack.
If one of those 4 are injured, suspended, managed, etc., then as I see it McKay gets first go, then Jones and Jaksch.
If we are to drop White, I think Macreadie gets first go. If Thomas, then Cuningham.

Did I hold Thomas to the standard? Thomas played a pretty good match with 30 possessions in the VFL a fortnight ago to earn his recall. He would want to do better in the Senior 22 though than against St Kilda. (I wanted Thomas dropped from the Senior 22 before the Gold Coast match).

White out, Macreadie in. Or perhaps Cuningham.
I like macreadie and think he's going to be a fantastic player for us in the long run, but he lacks size. I'd anticipate he should be the one to come in for Rowe or A Silvagni when he's finally bulked up enough.

Has macreadie shown a whole lot more than jaksch in the vfl games....not to my eyes.

With a developing side, players should be routinely rotated out to give other blokes, who are showing something in the VFL, a chance. How do we know who our "best 22" are if we don't give them all a chance to show us what they've got at senior level?

Jaksch shines in VFL

Despite kicking five goals to go with his 17 disposals, Jaksch still found himself down back in the game’s final stages.

The 22-year-old said the ability for a number of players to perform multiple roles and assist the team in whichever way possible was one of the “beautiful things” about the club’s current vein of form.

“We’ve got a lot of versatility in our side at the minute: all you have to do is look at a guy like Liam Jones,” Jaksch said.

Here's a tip BFC - stop listening to these people!

KJ will definitely get his chance, whenever the coach and the MC feel the time is right.

SOS selected him early in the draft for a reason. We just overpaid to bring him to Carlton. This fact alone should not have any bearing on people's perspective. But it does, as we've seen with Daisy and many others before him.

Simple questions give us the clearest idea:

1. Can he play? Yes.
2. Has he fully developed? No.
3. Is he currently performing? Yes.
4. Has he displayed sustained performance? No.
5. Is he currently on the senior list? Yes.
6. Are the coaches happy with his latest efforts? Yes. (Not opinion - see Josh Fraser's match reports)

He will get his chance on the balance of evidence. No doubt about it at all.

And this is coming from me, and I've never been a fan (although not a hater either!) of the player himself and the decision we made to recruit him.

White out.
JW to backline
KJ in forward.
I actually agree with this notion structurally, because he adds more run, intercept and rebound off HB than White, and probably handles most opponents that White does quite similarly.

Why I don't think it'll happen is because we probably want more speed out of defence, and the structure that the Weitering & Casboult combo is providing up forward. It's the rest that need to start lifting around them so things can open up more Weitering.

Longer term I can see him switching back to defence more regularly, but that's probably 2+ seasons now with Macreadie, Rowe and A.Silvagni in the mix.

I really hope we keep getting the best we can out of Jacob and that he doesn't turn into Nick Riewoldt, who might have had some great individual seasons, but was never able to influence his team enough when it mattered to take the Saints to a couple of flags because he wasn't allowed to play his best position.

Hahhahahahaha

We would love for him to turn out like Riewoldt.

What absolute rubbish.
