Good player but you take mitch out of the best forward line in the comp and he will get triple teamed or more. He wouldn't be efficient in Freo's forward line.
That's my hypothesis, his KPIs will be better at the crows and thus could stay for another 2-3 years and demand a bigger contract when he goes home around 25y/o

Both clubs would be stupid to get into a bidding war with each other. Mcgoverns good but he still won't solve freo's forwardline problems as he is a third tall like Mccarthy and kersten. If bid hard for him we will lose a pick that we could potentially use on finding and developing a kennedy replacement (good draft for KPP's) or finding another mid that they need. I think the we personally know that we got bigger issues to fix than go all out for a talented medium tall
Personally id be happy for freo to over reach for him. In that way we can go for JJ from the dogs and address our issue with foot speed.
I think you need to assess the draft this year before making those calls

Kennedy they voluntarily traded out to get Judd.
Betts they let walk.
Jacobs was their 4th in line ruck.
Waite was over 30
Henderson I'll pay.

You can add Yarran and Tuohy to that list.

Maybe they have better positioning then. You can't blame Tex and Jenkins for getting easier marks due to them getting away from their opponents.
You guys that don't rate McGovern enough don't realise he's just starting out and is operating at about 50% of his potential

Sky is the limit

Surely a discussion about retention shouldn't include a retrospective assessment of the player. By that logic you can strike Bock and Tippett from our list.

Brisbane lose a former pick 8 after 2 seasons. That's a very much required player bailing. It counts.

Posters rate him they just aren't overating him

Will he be the next Riewoldt Roughie Pav, buddy or Kennedy? What will be his ceiling Gunston level? Is he as good as hogan! Or will he get to J Riewoldt ability

at 190cm and 88kgs he would be a one of kind if he becomes roughy/buddy/jk etc. If did end up coming to West coast i rekon he will be used like Gunston or even a tom lynch from your mob and played further down the ground.

Fair enough but we are rumoured to be interested into player that might cost a first rounder at least. Of those two i prefer JJ from WBD as he fixes a current need.

Watch him a bit closer - he's a menace I50
with pressure and contested marking and opportunistic goals

I rate McGovern, and think he could be an elite player, but we shouldn't be misrepresenting where he's currently at either. He's a 3rd year player who is only into his second full year in the AFL. So I don't expect him to be better than Jenkins and Tex at this point in time.

Will he end up being a better player than Jenkins and Tex? Maybe, the potential is certainly there. However, you can't say his currently takes more contested marks than Jenkins and Tex when the stats don't actually back it up.

I do but i rekon in our set up he wont get as much contested marks in 50 purely because we dont have 3 other dangerous forwards to keep a defence occupied. JK/Jd bring immense pressure as well. For us we lack a player forward of centre that can take big contested grab and are force to play JK up the ground when the oppo locks the ball in our d50. That and his footskills on both sides make him a nice prospect for HFF.

Also most forwards around 190cm 90kg mark these days tend to play further away from goal these days.

Honestly, a lot of McGovern's contested marks are in a pack mark situation, rather than a 1 on 1.

They actually do per x target that he's used

Mitch going to wce who are the oldest list in the league would most likely mean that he may never play in a premiership in his career. To give up an opportunity to play in a possible couple of flags for practically the same money before going home would be madness. Anyway, the modern player is somewhat different i guess.
