Why he brings his foot up so high, I don't know. It clearly wasn't part of the catching motion. Just WTF is he doing with his leg like that? It's quite reckless, there's no way that Dalhaus can protect himself in that situation. Greene probably needs a few weeks.

At full extension with an opponent running at them? Care to give us a single example?

The person I quoted asked why his foot was in the air which is what I was replying to.
The fact contact was made with a player above the shoulders is what makes this case unique

LOL.
If he actually looked at him and did it, I would say he'd be looking at 3-4 weeks. Intentional.

What he did was careless, high contact and moderate impact. Usually would get 1 or 2 weeks which would then be dicounted down to a week or fine. Bad record means no fine.
Does his charge sheet mean he doesnt get the week discount for pleading guilty?

No it doesnt. He was going for the ball. No different.

The rules of our game say there is a difference. There is a list of prohibited contact, and many of these specifically do not apply to a marking contest. (which is why umpires have to adjudicate if a player has made an unrealistic attempt to mark and then contacted a player illegally).

Yep. People have been posting them on twitter since it happened.

If it wasnt Tobey there wouldnt be a discussion.

Can you repost them here? Genuinely interested.
I don't remember any incident like this before. I agree that Greene is disliked, but don't think that is the reason there is a discussion. The blood streaming from Dahlhaus' face probably has something to do with it.

Go read the f'ing rules!!!!!

The rules delineate between marking and other types of contests....

Wow. So much ignorance here.
Contested ball. He didnt leap at the player.
He lept straight up eyes on the ball.

Last line is just the usual garbage in here.

Parker from the swans did a similar thing to Birchall a few years back.Only got him in the chest.
Got nothing but a free kick against.

Yet its the same rule with bumping etc .

If you choose to use whatever means to protect your space and you then hit the opposition in the head, you must accept the consequences.

Would you say the same if he held a clenched fist out at a player running towards him? A studded boot if anything is worse.
